Greek alphabet the CORRECT pronunciation

04:55
MY FACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/tic.tac.395?fref=ts MY TWITTER https://twitter.com/TicTacOfficial1 I have seen many videos on youtube about the Greek Alphabet and everyone's question was What is the right pronunciation of the letters? First of all I'd like to tell you, that pronunciation doesn't really matters. I mean it's not so important if you say "beta" or "βήτα" Or if you say "Gama" or "γαμα" because when you put the letters in order to make a word, they will sound just fine. What they did, was that they replaced the ancient Greek letters with English characters. For example the letter "Y" ύψιλον was written "ὒ ψιλόν". So they replaced the first "υ" with "u" because it was looking pretty much the same and they haven't thought of the pronunciation which is a little bit different. In this video you see the CORRECT pronunciation of the letters. Wherever you hear the letter G, replace it with W its closer to Greek pronunciation For example if you take the word «Γαμάω» which means "I f**k" you would probably pronounce it like "ga-ma-o". But if you replace "G" with "W" it sounds like "wa-ma-o" which is closer to the Greek pronunciation. By the way, the word "γαμάω" its not actually a bad word. It comes from the ancient Greek word «γαμέω» which means "I get married", but in modern Greek it is used as a swear.

Greek Alphabet Song

02:13
A song I made to help me remember the Greek alphabet a very long time ago when I was Pledging Chi Phi. It's a little over 2 minutes long and it's pretty repetitive so that helped. It's basically of a parody of Daft Punk's "Technologic," but I used the Greek alphabet as the lyrical inspiration.

Greek handwriting alternates — lowercase

10:00
In this video I show every Greek lowercase letterform I encountered during my stay in Greece and my research afterwards back at home. Since it's hard to find online any alphabet that's not in a table, here's one: αβγδεζηθικλμνξοπρσ(ς)τυφχψω ΑΒΓΔΕΖΗΘΙΚΛΜΝΞΟΠΡΣΤΥΦΧΨΩ As you can see, some of the alternates actually have separate Unicode codepoints (ϐ ϵ ϑ ϰ ϖ ϱ ϕ ϴ ϒ): Α α alpha Β β ϐ beta Γ γ gamma Δ δ delta Ε ε ϵ epsilon Ζ ζ zeta Η η eta Θ ϴ θ ϑ theta Ι ι iota Κ κ ϰ kappa Λ λ lambda Μ μ mu Ν ν nu Ξ ξ xi Ο ο omicron Π π ϖ pi Ρ ρ ϱ rho Σ σ ς sigma Τ τ tau Υ ϒ υ upsilon Φ φ ϕ phi Χ χ chi Ψ ψ psi Ω ω omega Still, using them to stylize text is not usually a good idea. OpenType fonts utilize the alternates in a more efficient way by substituting glyphs with no codepoint that are seen in searches as the original codepoint and switch back to the original too if you change the font. If you have MS Office, try toying with the font Gabriola (go to Font and look for Stylistic Sets - ss01 includes the alternate beta ϐ and phi ϕ, stylistic alternates swaps theta ϑ for θ, and alternative rho ϱ is also somewhere, though I don't know how to reach it in Word). Another OpenType savvy font is Cambria.

Writing the Greek Alphabet (Part 2: Ancient Lowercase, or Minuscule)

02:11
How to write the Ancient Greek alphabet. Part 2 of this series teaches you to write the minuscule (lowercase) letter variants. This Greek script became more and more common in later ancient times and the middle ages. Printed Ancient Greek is now found in these lowercase letters. Uppercase (see Part 1) is still used for the first letter of the first word in a paragraph (not each sentence!) and the first letter of proper nouns. Visit my Ancient Greek language page at nativlang.com for more information: http://www.nativlang.com/greek-language/ancient-greek-writing.php Or purchase our thorough, step-by-step alphabet & writing workbook: http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/learn-to-write-ancient-greek/8802975

Wondering whether or not you should join a frat or sorority? Or are you wondering whether or not you've made the mistake of joining one already? Either way, Fred Price Jr. breaks down where these organizations stem from, and what they really represent...from the very beginning of time. We can't serve two masters, or gods....these organizations are indeed forcing you to do that, unknowingly. There are rituals, there are oaths taken....tune in! "Invictus": A Fraternity/Sorority Recital To Hell

Recorded Oct. 3, 2013 Should Christians join Greek letter organizations? What is the meaning behind "Invictus," a famous poem by William Ernest Henley? What inspired the words? Believe it or not I am fearful of public speaking and you'll notice several mistakes and slurs in my speech/jargons. Please be patient with me and push through it. I know it's just me in the room but some how I still feel as though my viewers are there with me :-) Thank you so much for your encouragement, advice, and comments!!! Do some more research before joining a Fraternity or Sorority. It could make a big difference to where you'll spend your eternity.
