An Overview of the Linux Kernel Crypto Subsystem - Boris Brezillon, Free Electrons

50:46
An Overview of the Linux Kernel Crypto Subsystem - Boris Brezillon, Free Electrons The Linux kernel has long provided cryptographic support for in-kernel users (like the network or storage stacks) and has been pushed to open these cryptographic capabities to user-space along the way. But what is exactly inside this subsystem, and how can it be used by kernel users? What is the official userspace interface exposing these features and what are non-upstream alternatives? When should we use a HW engine compared to a purely software based implementation? What's inside a crypto engine driver and what precautions should be taken when developing one? These are some of the questions we'll answer throughout this talk, after having given a short introduction to cryptographic algorithms. About Boris Brezillon Since 2014, Boris works at Free Electrons, a company offering development, consulting and training services to embedded Linux system developers worldwide. He has been working on embedded systems since 2008, mostly Linux on ARM. Boris has written and upstreamed a Linux kernel driver for the Marvell CESA cryptographic engine, he is the maintainer of the MTD NAND subsystem, and has contributed to support for Atmel and Allwinner ARM SoCs in the Linux kernel.

Creating a keyfile in Debian 9.0 to lock an encrypted hard drive (Installation Pt 4)

14:08
This is Part four of a 5-part series which takes you through the complete installation process of the Debian Linux operating system with full-disk encryption. We also place the boot partition on an external USB flash drive. The focus will be on privacy and anonymity. Part 4 focuses on creating a keyfile on an external USB flash drive that will be used to unlock the encrypted internal Solid State Drive in our Debian system. First we create the key-file with: dd if=/dev/urandom of=/keyfile bs=512 count=16 then we edit the crypttab file with: nano /etc/crypttab we remove “none luks” and then add: /boot/keyfile.gpg luks,keyscript=/lib/cryptsetup/scripts/decrypt_gnupg This tells the system where to find the encrypted key-file on boot up. We add the new keyfile to the keyring with: cryptsetup luksAddKey /dev/YourDeviceName /keyfile And then we encrypt the keyfile with gpg -c --cipher-algo AES256 /keyfile Then we move the encrypted key-file to the boot drive with: mv /keyfile.gpg /boot/keyfile.gpg After that we update the boot process with: update-initramfs -u And then reboot the computer. Don't forget to finish up with part 5 of the series after the reboot! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APjHjCUtRT0 This configuration is designed to give us a secure and private operating system. From here we can add and configure additional privacy and anonymity tools such as Tor, Whonix and VPNs. What you will need: 1. Computer (Laptop or desktop) 2. Internet connection (wired preferred) 3. Installer Media (CD-ROM or Flash Drive) 4. SSD Hard Drive 5. USB Flash Drive (small profile) 6. Time and Patience You can find the other parts of this tutorial here: Intro: (overview and gathering materials) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_-19EyKdLs&t=180s Part 1: (Initial set-up and format encrypted drive) here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etzJAG_H5F8 Part 2: (partition encrypted drive and download software form mirrors) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJdBIigQcVw Part 3: (install Grub boot-loader and finish installation) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyA4owRVUls Part 4: (Creating key file and moving it to boot drive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upOqR4HPi60 Part 5: (removing pass-phrase key and shredding copy of key-file on the hard drive) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APjHjCUtRT0 Here is the website where you can download the latest version of Debian Linux https://www.debian.org/ Check out my video on installing and verifying Debian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7oE0QaK540 The software for writing the installer to a boot-able flash drive and can be found here: Win32 Disk Imager https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ If you prefer to write your installer image to a CD-ROM, I would highly recommend Power ISO https://www.poweriso.com/ The Anonymous guide can be found at: https://anonguide.cyberguerrilla.org Donate Bitcoin: 1Pf7Uwc2XyrMhjaKxzqszJsvWAdCPhdFR2

Free Unbreakable Encryption CrptKey Demo

03:35
Free Unbreakable Encryption Software for Linux! Tested on RedHat 7 Enterprise Workstation (the only Linux OS I recommended) CentOS 7. Ubuntu 14.04 How to use CrptKey on Linux ! Now It's safe to use Gmail ! CrptKey uses a "Symetric Key File", to encrypt your important data No matter what it is CrptKey will keep it safe ! CrptKey doesn't just exchange characters for characters , like A = T, or B = U in CrptKeys Language A = B =C =D =F =G =H =I = J ect... Once your Key File is made Encrypting and Decrypting is very fast. Dont lose your Key Code, or you wont be able to build your "Key File" agian, and your data will be lost if you delete your "Key File";

Linux Bash Tutorial 6 How To Redirect Standard Output Streams

09:42
In this Linux Bash tutorial I will demonstrate how to redirect standard output. Standard output or stdout is the output of a Linux command or application. It is not to be confused with Standard Input (stdin) or Standard Error (stderr). We will talk about those different streams of data in future Linux tutorials. The Standard Output stream will be redirected into a new file and I will demonstrate how to overwrite the contents of the file and how to append its contents Other Linux tutorials in this course: Linux tutorial 1 The basics of Bash https://youtu.be/gR2bFNrYmD0 Linux tutorial 2 Creating nested directories https://youtu.be/i-4yDwIYCcc Linux tutorial 3 How to remove directories and files https://youtu.be/zgYdy5tAoMI Linux tutorial 4 How to move and rename files https://youtu.be/_-9YsrkdcM8 Linux tutorial 5 Working with directories https://youtu.be/_vqPY3RvZ78 Linux tutorial 6 How to redirect standard output https://youtu.be/XHZYJLsGArU Linux tutorial 7 How to redirect standard input https://youtu.be/f0s2UNaA5Vs Linux tutorial 8 How to pipe output between commands https://youtu.be/GPdAE9_-3aY Linux tutorial 9 How to use the cat command https://youtu.be/nK4028I3N5U Linux tutorial 10 How to display hidden files https://youtu.be/ATy8SZQkfAc Linux tutorial 11 Basics of file permissions https://youtu.be/89KXXZpEC5s Linux tutorial 12 How to copy files and folders https://youtu.be/HScXikQoW_s Linux tutorial 13 How to change file dates https://youtu.be/iPP2xFKUqig Linux tutorial 14 How to sort a file https://youtu.be/ka-FtmkU17k Linux tutorial 15 How to display disk usage https://youtu.be/1JD97NSB7Hc If you want to learn more about the Linux bash shell then checkout this book: Linux in a month of lunches: http://bit.ly/2xnmJfV Future tutorials will be posted to Patron first ==== GET EARLY ACCESS TO FUTURE VIDEOS & TUTORIALS ==== Patron: http://bit.ly/2hmVKwX ======== RECOMMENDED PROGRAMMING RESOURCES ======== Manning programming books and courses: http://bit.ly/2BIrExp Python Crash Course: http://amzn.to/2lRvw4l PHP Web Services: APIs for the Modern Web: http://amzn.to/2tqiyOl Responsive Web Design with HTML5 and CSS3: http://amzn.to/2tSo6nH. ======== MY PROGRAMMING COURSES ======== Docker in Motion: http://bit.ly/2vvz2sA Skillshare courses: http://skl.sh/2gI33M5 Udemy courses: http://bit.ly/2iGhvIE ======== WEB HOSTING DEALS ======== Cloudways: http://bit.ly/2CKb79b = 20% off first 6 months Digital Ocean: https://m.do.co/c/9d4641c62263 = $10 off Linode: http://bit.ly/2CmoNq3 ======== SUBSCRIBE TO THE NEWSLETTER ======== Join the Newsletter: http://bit.ly/2fPlG3v ======== FOLLOW ME ======== Blog: http://peterfisher.me.uk Facebook: http://facebook.com/howtocodewell/ Instagram: http://instagram.com/howtocodewell/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/howToCodeWell Pintrest: http://pinterest.co.uk/howtocodewell/ Twitch: http://twitch.tv/howtocodewell ======== MY TALKS ======== How to put your Docker image on a diet: http://bit.ly/2y5KMly ======== SUPPORT THE CHANNEL ======== Become a Patron: http://bit.ly/2hmVKwX Donate: https://www.paypal.me/howToCodeWell Help translate the videos: http://bit.ly/2iEyxXB ======== VIDEO SETUP ======== Nikon D5300 Camera: http://amzn.to/2u5jreD Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 http://amzn.to/2C5NNVJ CRAPHY Photography Studio Lights: http://amzn.to/2BThzOc Rode Procaster Microphone: http://amzn.to/2sH2WJ1 Rode VideoMic Pro: http://amzn.to/2vmNF0D Zoom H4NPro: http://amzn.to/2kZrrvo
