“There’s a life changing in commodity shares ahead”, says David Paul, MD at VectorVest, as he highlights the vital level copper prices are around at present, and the outlook for Anglo American and Rio Tinto using Vector Vest’s proprietary research tool and indicators. Joined by Zak Mir, Technical Analyst at Zak’s Traders Cafe. Paul highlights the vital level copper prices are trading at, and notes that the metal is in for a promising turnaround ahead. Failing to hold this level will see the miners fall quite hard, adds Paul. Paul further shares the technical outlook for Anglo American and Rio Tinto. Tows Bank, situated 7 miles [11 km] NNW of Alston, was opened in 1986 by three partners; Ted Nancarow Snr, Willie Armstrong and Frank Shepherd. The question of whether precious metals have a place in one's portfolio is a never-ending debate, but an equally important yet often-overlooked question is "how much"? Ned Naylor-Leyland of Merian Global Investors discusses the role that gold and silver can play, and the important differences between sizing bullion versus sizing mining stocks. He also provides his theory for why central banks continue to accumulate bullion in their own portfolios. Filmed on October 11, 2018, in London. And it comes from a lack of understanding of this problem of costs versus the gold price. So just to go into that a little bit, gold is money, silver is money. And they're pricing of full stature in the bond market. And I'll say, for me, that, that it's not just the work John Williams of Shadowstats. There are other things as well, which indicate that inflation can be around probably average 9% over the last 20 years. I know that sounds completely shocking. But by the way, in truth, , you know, a lot of the most-interesting investors I meet would agree with me. They want to be up 10% net per year. Otherwise, they feel they're down. So that actually confirms that point. But if you accept that, then there's a huge input-cost problem for these companies. And we see it consistently when you model them out proper. You can see it's there. And they're not able to hedge that away or avoid that problem. If costs are rising at 10, and gold is up 1, it's not a management problem. Now, don't get me wrong. There are issues with corporate governance, renumeration. But I don't think there are any bigger than they are elsewhere in other sectors. I think that there's a narrative here which doesn't really bear out when you really dig into it. The issue is with the way inflation is reported, and thereby, the way real-interest rates price gold. And that's where both the problem has come for a very long time, but also, where the enormous- investment opportunity lies because if gold does start to break out in a major way, you're going to see massive margin expansion, operational gearing to the upside for these companies. And people can make fantastic returns on that basis.

Does the Rothschild Family Secretly Control The World?? From controlling the price of gold to bailing out world governments…stay tuned to number 1 to find out the craziest thing you didn’t know about the Rothschild Family This top 10 brought to you by Zero2Hero!! Don't forget to subscribe here! https://goo.gl/NXuChu Click here to see the Top 10 Most AMAZING Pools!! https://youtu.be/EPlfk7Uj3Hk Number 10: Wealthiest Family in Human History. While you are unlikely to find many mentions of the name Rothschild in any of the world’s richest lists, this does not mean that they are not wealthy. Instead, They’re just really secretive about it. So secretive, in fact, that many people don’t even realize exactly how far reaching their control is! Their vast fortunes have been spread over hundreds of hairs over the years, diluting any one person’s personal fortune. But, despite this, there are still an extraordinary number of Rothschild individuals with enormous personal wealth. British financiers Jacob Rothschild and Sir Evelyn De Rothschild have, between them, amassed over $25 Billion dollars. And, as they have always been wealthy, they have been responsible in one way or another for shaping the world as we know it. Number 9: Narrow Family Tree. Before we talk about the inbreeding within the Rothschild family, take a moment to like this video and subscribe to our channel! Also, it’s important that you click that little notification bell to ensure you get notified of all of our updates! As was the way with royals and noblemen at one time, keeping it in the family was a way of ensuring that wealth and power were not spread too far afield. Mayer Amschel Rothschild arranged many of his family’s marriages, so that if they wanted to keep their hands on their vast inheritance, they needed to marry their cousin… he believed this was the safest way to keep the money in the family and out of the hands of outsiders. But those inbred families could grow excessively large, with Mayer Amschel, himself, having five sons and five daughters to carry on the family line. Number 8: Largest Private Zoological Collection. Lord Walter, was passionate about zoology. As a child, he even collected animals and insect. Disinterested in the family business of banking, his parents established a zoological museum in 1908, enabling Lord Walter to travel the world in search of new and unknown creatures. Along with the help of commissioned explorers he soon amassed the largest collection of animals and insects ever owned by a private individual. He even had a carriage pulled by zebra! Number 7: Diverse Business Dealings. The family’s initial fortune was amassed in banking, but not just ANY kind of banking. In the late 1700’s, Mayer Amschel Rothschild found himself in a unique position to deal directly with the Crown Prince Wilhelm Landgrave of Hesse-Kessel, eventually earning the title of “Crown Agent.” But today, banking is not all this family is famous for, in 1853 Nathaniel de Rothschild started a vineyard and winery. For the last 150 years or so they have been producing wine under the label Château Mouton Rothschild. this new venture caught on within the family and soon James Mayer de Rothschild brought the vineyard next door and began producing Château Lafite Rothschild. Now the Rothschild family owns a multitude of wine estates in France; Château Clerc-Milon, Château de la Muette, Château Rothschild d’Armainvilliers, to name a few. But it doesn’t end there…today they control some of the worlds largest mining companies, including the famous Rio Tinto Zinc Corp. The family is involved in many of the major real estate deals around the world, control much of the world’s energy resources, GMO’s and mixed farming, non-profit organizations…and they even helped to finance Donald Trumps famous Taj Mahal casino. Number 6: Ties to the Vatican. When Italy was not yet Italy, in the early 1800’s, a Rothschild bank donatee large loans to the Papal States, and the numerous kings of Naples, the duchy of Parma, and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The unification of Italy in 1861, caused the Italian aristocracy to decline, and the Rothschild’s were forced to close their Naples bank. But being the fastidious financiers that they were, when the Naples bank had to close they instead increased their ties with the Vatican Bank, an association that continued into the 20th century. In fact, when Carl von Rothschild met Pope Gregory XVI in 1832, he was not even required to kiss the Pope’s feet, as would have been customary. Number 5: Highly Influential. This may sound a little farfetched, but stay with me… As has always been the case, when anything in the world requires a huge sum of money, a member of the Rothschild Family is there, ready and waiting. This was true in the 1850’s when they were involved in the construction of the Suez Canal, a vast 119 mile, man made canal connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the red sea through Egypt.

This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES-U3) are trading higher by 8.00 points to 1661.00 per contract. The markets seem to be getting a boost from Asia which was strong last night. The important and highly followed Nikkei 225 Index (Japan) finished higher by 2.48 percent. This tells us that the Japanese ADR's could be strong at the start of the trading day if the U.S. markets are strong. In China, the Shanghai Composite Index surged higher by 3.41 percent. Often, when the Shanghai stock index rallies it will help to boost mining stocks such as Rio Tinto plc (NYSE:RIO), and BHP Billiton Limited (NYSE:BHP).

8:10 AM, Jun 9, 2010 -- Oil is up in early morning trade while U.S. crude inventories fell. The American Petroleum Institute reported Tuesday that stockpiles fell 4.5 million barrels, or 1.3%, in the latest week, marking the single biggest drop in six months. Eyes will be on the release of the Department of Energy's own weekly inventories data due out at 1030 ET to see whether signs of U.S. demand is solid. Gold, meanwhle, is lower on profit-taking, but many analysts believe that longer-term prospects for the yellow metal point upward. Given the lingering downside risks in the global economy and concerns about Europe's sovereign debt crisis in particular, gold is expected to retain its sheen as a safe haven. At 0800 ET, Brent crude is up 0.7% at $72.51 a barrel, while light sweet crude is 1.2% higher at $72.85 a barrel, and natural gas is 1.5% weaker at $4.74 a million British thermal units. Gold is 0.7% weaker at $1,236.40 an ounce, while silver is down 1.0% at $18.29 an ounce, and copper is up 2.3% at $2.84 a pound. While BP plc (BP) continues to struggle in stopping its well leak and clean up the Gulf of Mexico, the energy giant reported at its annual statistical review in London that it is working with oil priced between a range of $60 and $90 a barrel for planning investment. Meanwhile, BP reported that global consumption of oil fell by 1.2 million barrels a day in 2009, marking the second consecutive annual decline and the largest volume since 1982. In Russia, OAO Gazprom (GAZP) reported that 2011 gas production is seen rising to 528 billion cubic meters from 519 billion cubic meters this year. The company also said that it maya adjust the planned capacity of its South Stream gas pipeline which runs under the Black Sea to southern Europe if demand is uncertain. In the mining sector, BHP Billiton Ltd (BHP) and Rio Tinto plc (RIO) are offering monthly iron ore prices to Chinese steelmakers, only months after moving to a quarterly pricing arrangement from an annually based one, according to Metal Bulletin.

A plum-sized #diamond known as the Pink Star has fetched a record-breaking $83m (£51.7m) at #auction. Sotheby's said it was a world record price for a gemstone. The flawless 59.60-#carat pink diamond is the largest in its class ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), with the second biggest less than half its size. Set on a ring, it measures 2.69 by 2.06 centimetres and weighs 11.92 grammes. There was applause as Sotheby's David Bennett brought down the hammer in the heavily-guarded Geneva salesroom. Noting that its pre-sale estimate had been $61m (£38m), he told reporters: "It surpassed our estimate. It's a large amount of money in itself but I don't think this stone has a price." It was bought by a man bidding in the room, who told reporters that he was purchasing it on behalf of an anonymous buyer. The previous record was held by the Graff Pink diamond which sold for $46.2m (£28.9m) three years ago. Half the size of the Pink Star, it came from a private collection and had not been on the market for 60 years. Analysts note that investors have often turned to diamonds and other jewels in uncertain economic times as they are seen primarily as investments. The Pink Star was 132.5 carats in the rough when it was mined by De Beers in Africa in 1999, according to Sotheby's. It was then cut and polished over a period of two years by Steinmetz Diamonds, and was first unveiled to the public in 2003 under the title of the Steinmetz Pink. Mr Bennett said: "Frankly when I sold the Graff 3 years ago, I thought it would be a record for a very long time. This price is really quite extraordinary three years later."

The Role of Coal in a New Energy Age - Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming - 2010-04-14 - For the first time in recent memory, the CEOs of America's top two coal mining companies, and a leading international company, came to Capitol Hill to answer questions on their positions on climate change, clean energy policy, and the challenges that face their industry. "Just as our national energy policy is at a crossroads, so, too, is the coal industry," said Rep. Edward J. Markey, who chairs the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, the committee that hosted the CEOs. "Whether it's climate science, the viability of 'clean coal,' or safety concerns, I believe Congress requires answers from the coal industry on their ability to be a part of our clean energy future." As Congress continues to push for a comprehensive clean energy and climate bill, questions remain regarding the coal industry's position on the essential science of climate change and their potential to provide cleaner, lower-carbon fuel in the decades to come. The House-passed Waxman-Markey bill offered a pathway for coal to transition to carbon capture and sequestration technologies. The coal mining industry has seen significant developments over the last two weeks. A mining accident in West Virginia has renewed questions about the safety of coal extraction, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has offered new rules on the environmental and health impacts of mountaintop mining. TESTIMONY: Gregory Boyce, President and Chief Executive Officer, Peabody Energy Corporation; Steven F. Leer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Arch Coal, Inc.; Preston Chiaro, Chief Executive for Energy and Minerals, Rio Tinto; Michael Carey, President, Ohio Coal Association. The Mining Foundation of the Southwest is pleased to recognize James and Corale Brierley as a 2014 recipient of the Medal of Merit for induction into the American Mining Hall of Fame. The Brierleys met at Montana State University in Bozeman and subsequently married in 1963. Corale, the daughter of ranchers, grew up in southwestern Montana and sometimes rode Betty, her horse, to her one-room country school house. Jim, the only child of an immigrant single mother, developed his lifelong fascination with thermal springs when he accidentally stepped into one on his first trip to Yellowstone National Park at age 9. While working on his post-graduate studies, Jim’s extensive research led to the discovery of the first high temperature (thermophilic) acid loving microorganism - Acidianus brierleyi – named by German scientists in his honor. After earning his PH.D., Jim joined the faculty of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) in Socorro and Corale often enrolled in his courses. In 1982, Corale was approached to form a company to develop biotechnology for mining and founded Advanced Minerals Technology and Jim served as its Research Director. The company with some 23 scientists and engineers developed and patented technologies for bioleaching and metal removal but was forced to dissolve when the stock market crashed in 1987. Jim then joined Newmont Mining Corporation as Chief Research Scientist and Corale soon followed as Chief of Environmental Process Development. Laid off by Newmont, Corale began accepting consultant work in bioleaching and with increased requests for her service, founded Brierley Consultancy LLC in 1991 providing technical and business consultation to the mining and chemical industries as well as government agencies. Jim’s confidentiality agreement with Newmont prohibited the Brierleys for the first time since 1963 to confer on technical matters. Happily they were able to resume their collaboration when Jim retired from Newmont and became Principal of Brierley Consultancy in 2001. Jim and Corale share many parallel career paths. Both earned Ph.Ds. in science, both received “Distinguished Achievement Award” from their respective universities, both are recipients of the SME (Society of Mining Metallurgy & Exploration) Milton E. Wadsworth Award, and both are inducted members of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for their demonstrated accomplishments in the pioneering of new technology. The first Brierley and Brierley technical paper was published in 1973 and many of their technical papers over the decades became the basis for the bioleaching technologies applied commercially today for copper and gold recovery – theirs is a true scientific partnership.
