COMBAT DIVER INTEST

07:15
A frogman is someone who is trained in scuba diving or swimming underwater in a tactical capacity that includes police or military work. Such personnel are also known by the more formal names of combat diver, combatant diver, or combat swimmer. The word frogman first arose in the stage name The Fearless Frogman of Paul Boyton in the 1870s and later was claimed by John Spence, an enlisted member of the U.S. Navy, to have been applied to him while he was training in a green waterproof suit. The term frogman is occasionally used to refer to a civilian scuba diver. Some sport diving clubs include the word Frogmen in their names.[citation needed] The preferred term by scuba users is diver, but the frogman epithet persists in informal usage by non-divers, especially in the media and often referring to professional scuba divers, such as in a police diving role. In the U.S. military and intelligence community, divers trained in scuba or CCUBA who deploy for tactical assault missions are called "combat divers". This term is used to refer to the Navy SEALs, operatives of the CIA's Special Activities Division, elements of Marine Recon, Army Ranger Regimental Reconnaissance Company members, Army Special Forces divers, Air Force Pararescue, Air Force Combat Controllers, U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmers, United States Naval Search and Rescue Swimmers, United States Air Force Special Operations Weather Technicians, and the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units. In Britain, police divers have often been called "police frogmen". Some countries' tactical diver organizations include a translation of the word frogman in their official names, e.g., Denmark's Frømandskorpset; others call themselves "combat divers" or similar. Others call themselves by indefinite names such as "special group 13" and "special operations unit". Many nations and some irregular armed groups deploy or have deployed combat frogmen. Tactical diving is a branch of professional diving carried out by armed forces and tactical units. They may be divided into: Combat/assault divers. Special mission work divers (called Clearance Divers in the British Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy), who do general work underwater. Work divers who are trained in defusing mines and removing other explosives underwater. These groups may overlap, and the same men may serve as assault divers and work divers, such as the Australian Clearance Diving Branch (RAN). The range of operations performed by these operatives includes: Amphibious assault: stealthy deployment of land or boarding forces. The vast majority of combat swimmer missions are simply to get "from here to there" and arrive suitably equipped and in sufficient physical condition to fight on arrival. The deployment of tactical forces using the arrival by water to assault land targets, oil platforms, or surface ship targets (as in boardings for seizure of evidence) is a major driver behind the equipping and training of combat swimmers. The purposes are many, but include feint and deception, counter-drug, law enforcement, counter-terrorism, and counter-proliferation missions. Sabotage: This includes putting limpet mines on ships. Clandestine surveying: Surveying a beach before a troop landing, or other forms of unauthorized underwater surveying in denied waters. Clandestine underwater work, e.g.: Recovering underwater objects. Clandestine fitting of monitoring devices on submarine communications cables in enemy waters. Investigating unidentified divers, or a sonar echo that may be unidentified divers. Diving sea-police work may be included here. See anti-frogman techniques. Checking ships, boats, structures, and harbors for limpet mines and other sabotage; and ordinary routine maintenance in war conditions. If the inspection divers during this find attacking frogmen laying mines, this category may merge into the previous category. Underwater mine clearance and bomb disposal. Typically, a frogman with closed circuit oxygen rebreathing equipment will stay within a depth limit of 20 feet (6.1 m) with limited deeper excursions to a maximum of 50 feet (15 m) because of the risk of seizure due to acute oxygen toxicity. The use of nitrox or mixed gas rebreathers can extend this depth range considerably, but this may be beyond the scope of operations, depending on the unit.
Starfish Walking on the Beach

01:27
Shortcut to get back to this video: WalkingStarfish.com It was early evening, probably around 6pm or so at low tide. We noticed there were starfish walking around on the sand near the water. Some were in tide pools but some were just strolling on the sand, very very very slowly. The ones that were on the sand we carefully relocated back to the ocean or a tide pool. Other people coming out to the beach were fascinated by the large amount of starfish and helped relocate the walkers to the water as well. This was shot on the Outer Banks of North Carolina (specifically Corolla, NC) in early October 2012. Almost the exact same spot on the beach that a WWII mine washed up in late September 2017 (https://outerbanksvoice.com/2017/09/25/unexploded-mines-wash-up-on-hatteras-and-corolla-beaches/) Also, to clear up the questions about the "foot" in the video. It's my son's foot and he was squatting down. He was 4 at the time of the video. Looks like a strange deformed thing but it's just a normal 4 year old's foot. China builds military infrastructures on large outposts in South China Sea

The report states that China is currently focused on outfitting its three largest outposts — Fiery Cross, Subi and Mischief Reefs in the Spratly Islands — with military infrastructures, including airfields with runways measuring at least 8,800 feet, water and fuel storage, port facilities, 24 fighter-sized hangars, communications facilities and barracks and administration buildings. Once the facilities are complete, China can house up to three regiments of fighter jets in the Spratly Islands. According to Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative, the three air bases and another on Woody Island in the Paracels will give Chinese fighter jets the ability to operate over almost the entire South China Sea, as well as the radar surveillance coverage of almost the entire region from its facilities on the large and smaller outposts. Parts of the South China Sea is claimed by China, Brunei, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. The Hague international tribunal rejected China’s claims of historical ownership in the in the South China Sea last July. China, in response, has firmly rejected the ruling. RUNDOWN SHOWS: 1. Facilities being added onto the three islands 2. Regiments of fighter jets can be deployed to the islands once infrastructures complete 3. Three air bases in Spratlys and another in Parcels enables Chinese fighter jet to operate over the entire South China Sea 4. We visit the site of the parachute packing sheds of the U.S. Army's 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, who were deployed in North Queensland during 1942/43. Featured finds over the two-day hunt include a beautiful 1947 Silver Florin (Two Shilling) coin, and a U.S. Army M-1936 pattern webbing buckle. Some 3,500 men of the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, including the 501st Parachute Battalion and 'A' Company of the 504th Parachute Infantry Battalion, arrived in North Queensland in December 1942. After completion of training the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment embarked in August 1943, bound for Port Moresby. On the morning of 5 September the paratroopers were loaded into 82 C-47 transport aircraft assembled at eight airstrips in the Port Moresby area. Five aircraft carrying Australian gunners from the 2/4 Field Regiment accompanied the air armada over the Owen Stanley Range for the parachute assault on Japanese forces around Nadzab in the Markham River valley. They secured the Nadzab area for the construction of an airstrip from where the Australian 7th Division could be flown in to attack Lae from the landward side, while the 9th Division carried out an assault from the sea. Lae and Salamaua were taken by mid-September. Thanks for watching and please take the time to visit our blog www.nqexplorers.com

Industry Insight: Korea′s bottled water market

인더스트리 인사이트: 한국의 생수시장

03:52
Koreans have an unquenchable thirst for bottled water. There are trendy water bars stocked with dozens of varieties from sparkling to glacial staffed with specially-trained waiters to help you make your choice. But it hasn′t always been so. Korea′s bottled water market has expanded quickly in recent years, as our Park Ji-won reports in this week′s Industry Insight. Korea′s bottled water market is estimated to hit about 5-point-five hundred million U.S. dollars in 2014. The market has almost quadrupled over the past 15 years,... and last year alone... it grew by some 10 percent. Currently, there are around a hundred domestic brands of bottled water in Korea. But the hands-down top seller is Jeju Samdasoo the number one brand for 16 years running. Let′s take a look. Jeju Samdasoo has been the invincible market leader,... since it was launched in the late 1990s. Produced and bottled by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation,... Jeju Samdasoo racked up some 206 million U.S. dollars in sales revenue last year,... a market share of over 35 percent. : : cg . "The reason for the continued support from Korean consumers is the unparalleled water quality. Jeju Island has one of the highest levels of precipitation in Korea. The rainfall permeates underground,... forming vast groundwater resources. Jeju Island′s volcanic rocks function as a natural filter,... resulting in clean and naturally mineral-enriched water." With Jeju Samdasoo firmly in the lead,.... the competition for the number-two spot has been fierce. As of the end of 2014,... Baeksansoo,... a brand launched in 2012 by food and beverage conglomerate Nongshim,... has taken the highly-coveted second position,... with a 5-point-4 percent market share. While Korea′s bottled water market grew about 10 percent last year,... Baeksansoo′s revenue expanded over 30 percent from the previous year. "There are three conditions for good water resources: excellent water quality, a clean environment and an abundance of water. Baekdusan Mountain meets all three conditions,... and that′s why Baeksansoo is bottled there." With the growing interest in health and well-being in the nation,... sales of bottled water have outpaced the sales of juice,... which tends to contain sugar and artificial colors,... for the first time. Now that water is one of the most popular beverages,... consumers are developing a water palate and a flair for water and food pairings. And premium water bars like this,... which sells over a hundred bottled water brands,... are gaining a foothold. At the bar, water sommeliers offer their advice about which types of water will best suit consumers′ needs. "There are many types of bottled water,... from glacial water to deep sea water to spring water. The taste depends on the mineral content and the water′s PH. And now that drinking bottled water is now considered as a part of a health and beauty regiment,... the ma

Over the spring of 1919 both countries' new governments needed to defend that independence not only against the Russian Bolsheviks, there was also a violent internal struggle about the future of these countries. The Baltic Germans didn't want to give up their social status and the even the anti-bolshevik Russians considered the Baltics as part of the Russian Empire. » SUPPORT THE CHANNEL Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thegreatwar Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.de/thegreatwar/ Become a member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUcyEsEjhPEDf69RRVhRh4A/join » SOURCES Bennett, Geoffrey Martin. CSS Lunch Series | Michael Kofman on Russian Military Transformation

01:25:49
Military reforms, starting in late 2008, and a well funded modernization program launched in 2011, have transformed the Russian armed forces. Far from the defunct Soviet mass mobilization army inherited in the 1990s, Moscow has restored the military as a capable instrument of national power. The driving factors in this transformation include Russian military thought on the modern character of war and lessons learned from recent combat operations in Syria and Ukraine. This lecture will explore the evolution of Russia's armed forces, offering a perspective on the transformation, and outlook on what the future holds for the Russian military. About the Speaker Michael Kofman serves as Director of the Russia Studies Program at the Center for Naval Analyses and a Fellow at the Kennan Institute, Woodrow Wilson International Center in Washington, D.C. His research focuses on the Russia and the former Soviet Union, specializing in the Russian armed forces, Russian military thought and strategy. Previously he served at National Defense University as a Program Manager, and subject matter expert, advising senior military and government officials on issues in Russia and Eurasia. Mr. Kofman's other affiliations include being a Senior Editor at War on the Rocks, where he regularly authors articles on questions of strategy, the Russian military, and foreign policy issues. Mr. Kofman has published numerous articles on the Russian armed forces, security issues in Russia/Eurasia, along with analyses for the U.S. government. He holds a M.A. in International Security from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University and a B.A. in Political Science from Northeastern University.

Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations - Under African Skies Episode 1 - Scenario Intro/Opening Moves

30:18
The Command Modern Air/Naval Operations WOTY playthrough of 'Under African Skies' begins! In this fictional scenario based around a state-sponsored act of terrorism against the USA, France, and UK in 2017, DrZaius takes command of the initial US and British response to degrade the ability of the former-Nigerian state to respond as a cohesive force while balancing the tenuous threat of the Nigerian-friendly Chinese forces in the area. This is a wonderfully crafted scenario that I've had a lot of fun watching and playing myself and if you'd like to try your own hand at it, here is the link to download the scenario from the Matrix Games forums: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3700311 ► Follow the Series Playlist Here • https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2NGeE0l2kcpq323-WKYRIrt8Lfa54Jag Thanks for watching this gameplay video! Every sensor and weapon system is modeled in meticulous detail. You are given the hardware; but you have to use it well. THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS Throw your distorted flat maps away – Command uses a realistic 3D earth globe for each of its scenarios. Rotate and zoom in and out of the action, from satellite view down to the trenches and wavetops. Play scenarios or build your own on any place on earth – from classics like the Middle East, South Atlantic, North Cape and Europe to new and rising hotspots like the Arctic, the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Use a powerful yet intuitive point-and-click mouse interface for controlling your forces and go advanced with a wide collection of hotkeys for quickly jumping around the action and issuing complex orders in the heat of the battle. RELENTLESS REALISM Sensors and weapons work just like in real life, with all their strengths and weaknesses. Units move, detect, fight and win or die based on what their systems can and cannot do. Electronic warfare and technological levels can tilt the balance of battle. The weather can be your best ally and your worst enemy. The terrain, both overland and undersea, can hide you from the enemy but also can block your weapons from firing. Your aircraft can choose different mission profiles and loadouts, each with its advantages and limitations, and can dash high (speed, range) or scream low (protection). Thermal layers, convergence zones, surface ducting, the deep sound channel and factors such as water temperature and terrain slope may decide the sub vs ship duel. Thick clouds or rain can render your fancy laser-guided bombs useless. Stealth may help you avoid detection, or a jamming barrage may tip the scales when you are out of options. Command's battle environment is as unforgiving as the real thing – and as rewarding for those who understand and use it. AIR/NAVAL WARFARE AROUND THE WORLD Korea. Colonial wars. Vietnam. Middle East. Cuba. Falklands. Iran-Iraq. World War 3. Desert Storm. India & Pakistan. The Arctic circle. Past and future conflicts in the Pacific, Norwegian Sea, Russian periphery and more. Experience conflict from post-WW2 all the way to 2020+ and beyond. Test your mettle against lethal land-based missile batteries, air regiments, naval fleets or pirate groups. Face off against threats of the past, present and future. How do you measure up against the challenges of modern warfare? Command Modern Air Naval Operations - Operation Folgore Part 2 - Italian Air Superiority

The Command Modern Air/Naval Operations WOTY playthrough of Operation Folgore continues. In this episode, DrZaius begins to win air superiority over the numerically greater Libyan air force. Top 10 Most Unusual Military Bases Around The World

01:51
10. Thule Air Base: The Thule Air Base is the United States’ most northerly military installation, located deep within the Arctic Circle. It essentially acts as an early warning system, able to detect any intercontinental ballistic missiles that may arrive from enemies such as Russia. It also has a more modern purpose, in that it is used to monitor space traffic and detect any anomalies above the Earth’s atmosphere. 9. Pine Gap: Pine Gap is the name that is most commonly used for the military base that is officially known as the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap. Jointly operated by the United States and Australia, the facility offers various agencies, including the CIA and NSA, access to surveillance equipment to monitor for potential threats and to gather data to be used for carrying out drone strikes in the Eastern Hemisphere. Built in the middle of a desert, near Alice Springs. 8. Devil’s Tower Camp: Devil’s Tower Camp is a large military base in the British controlled Gibraltar. The territory has been under British control since 1713, and a regiment of soldiers has almost always been present to ensure that the U.K. does not lose an important strategic location. The current garrison of troops operates out of Devil’s Tower Camp (the base also has the facilities to train soldiers in a variety of distinct disciplines). 7. USAMRIID: The united States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases is a facility that sites in Fort Detrick, Maryland. It is a U.S. army base that is home to efforts at creating defense measures against biological warfare. The base holds samples of a number of diseases, such as anthrax and the plague, and has played an important role in developing vaccines that are used by the public. 6. Kwajalein Atoll: The Kwajalein Atoll military base is a Pacific island military complex, similar to the other bases located in the surrounding areas such as a Guam. However, it is significantly smaller than its neighbors. Made up of a collection of more than eleven islands leased from the Republic of the Marshall Island. 5. Duga-3: Duga-3 was a huge Russian radio antenna in Ukraine. The vast structure made up a significant part of the radar system used by the Soviet Union to detect incoming enemy attack in the form of missiles. It sent out incredibly powerful radio waves that could be heard around the world on various devices from the day it was turned on in 1976, as a regular knocking sound. 4. Cheyenne Mountain Nuclear Bunker: In reality, Cheyenne Mountain nuclear bunker was the original home of NORAD and the Air Force Space Command, and was designed to be able to detect any missile attack on the United States, as well as be able to withstand attacks from even the most sophisticated and powerful weapons.A skeleton crew of around 200 now operates the base in a standby mode. 3. Zeljava Airbase: The Zeljava Airbase is a large underground facility that sits along the borders between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was immensely costly to build and was one of the largest underground facilities in Europe, as well as being the biggest military airbase in the former Yugoslavia. 2. HAARP Research Station: The complex is home to the High Frequency Auroral Research Program that aims to use high-frequency radio-waves to interfere with the ionosphere, which can then be made to create an effect similar to the aurora borealis. The research team hopes that the technology will eventually help them to manipulate electrons, so they can communicate with deep sea submarines or even help transmit data with satellites. 1. Maunsell Forts: The Maunsell Forts are a collection of fortified towers that were built during World War II. Their purpose was to protect the United Kingdom from incoming air raids into the country, and to stop any German ships from attempting to lay mines into what was an essential shipping lane. While some of the towers were used by the army and others by the Navy, they were similar in design and were able to withstand attack from ships and aircraft. Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations - Under African Skies Episode 4 - Campaign Combat Gameplay

32:36
The Command Modern Air/Naval Operations WOTY playthrough of 'Under African Skies' campaign scenario continues! In this fictional scenario based around a state-sponsored act of terrorism against the USA, France, and UK in 2017, DrZaius takes command of the initial US and British navy response to degrade the ability of the former-Nigerian state to respond as a cohesive force while balancing the tenuous threat of the Nigerian-friendly Chinese forces in the area. With the French task force requesting search and rescue assistance and the Ascension Island forces reaching their strike rally points, it's time to take the fight to the bad guys! There isn't a lot of air cover from our small F-35 contingent on the Bataan, but who needs cover when we have good old American cruise missile power!? Oh, and let's not try and upset the Chinese shall we? We don't want to end up like the French Task force, waiting for sharks to come and nibble on our pruned toes. A wise strategy... ► Follow the Series Playlist Here • https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2NGeE0l2kcpq323-WKYRIrt8Lfa54Jag ► Scenario Download • http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3700311 Thanks for watching this gameplay video!
