"What's your major?" Is the first question you are asked when you meet a college student. Once out of college the question is replaced by "what do you do?". Luckily, our economy is shifting from one that rewards a "safe" career choice to one that rewards those who follow their own authentic path. In her interactions with students she prioritizes questions and conversations that help students' strengthen their understanding of their own goals, values, and skills as they progress through the first few years of college. She enjoys her job most when she is able to see her students break down the outside messages telling them what they "should" do, and figure out what they are truly passionate about. Determine Your Major Purpose -- Have you ever wondered what your major purpose in life is? Do you go day by day just living, or do you live with drive and motivation? I challenge you to live with purpose so you can make our world a better place! Share link for Life Purpose Exercise: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zPTD_fEyU7FsN5LJo-y23Eq_DEUQygs1QnnNZlFsz-I/edit?usp=sharing Check out this FREE PDF of the 60 BEST Books for Workers, Leaders, and Entrepreneurs, all the titles are clickable links for your convenience: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4-AXRIKcriQVTdSSC1yS0QtVzQ Intro Transcript: Hi, I'm Mike Richter, and today we're talking about 4 steps to determine your definite major purpose in life. The reason why this is so important is because once you have defined what your major definite purpose is in life, you're able to order your goals and your vision in line with that, that way the things that you do on a regular basis, as long as they line up with your definite major purpose and your goals, you're more likely to be motivated to do those things. Today we're going to be talking about what were you put on this earth to do, a specific 4 step process to craft your own life purpose, and some things that you can do to make sure that you're staying on purpose so that you're motivated to do the things that you need to do to accomplish your goals in life. First, what were you put here to do? One way to really flesh this out is a personal life statement. This is one statement that kind of sums up why you're on the earth, what you hope to give, and what you expect to get in return. I'll give you a couple of examples, and then I'll give you my own personal life statement. One example from a homemaker might be “To raise healthy, prosperous children to make a different in the world.” That's a very big purpose, and it's centered in the home, and we can see what all of the creative energies that this mom is going to be exerting, what it's going to for that season in her life. There may be a point in time where the children have left the nest and the definite major purpose in her life will shift based on the change of her circumstances, so just because your life statement is what it is today doesn't mean it can't change 5 or 10 years down the road as you get more clarity on where your talents are and you achieve a higher level of self awareness. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "What is Bitcoin??? And without it, I don't think I would've been accepted to my dream school, Princeton. - Now, if you're at all like me, you've spent hours on the College Confidential forum, watching YouTube videos like this one, and spamming your college guidance counselors, teachers, and parents with questions about college admissions and things like that. -This year, there were 31,056 people who applied to Princeton. Of those, 12,435 had a perfect GPA, and 13,800 of them had a 1400 or above on the SAT. That means that roughly 45% of Princeton's applicant pool was completely qualified to get in. Yet, only 6.1% got the golden ticket. So how do admissions officers determine which 14% of awesome applicants to let in, and which 86% to reject? - You're probably thinking "Do as many extracurriculars as you can, sign up for all of that volunteer work, you know you can do it." And honestly, I can't blame you. I'm sure that's the advice your guidance counselors, parents, younger sisters, and goldfish have been telling you all this time. - Well... colleges don't care how many random activities you can slap on your application. When going through their applicant pools, admissions officers at top colleges don't really look for well-rounded students; they look more for a well-rounded class. That means x-many jazz musicians, x-many lacrosse players, x-many public speakers, you get it. - How do you develop a passion? Let me take you back to sophomore year. I was involved in theatre, my school's a capella group, mock trial, track, I was volunteering in a soup kitchen, I was part of China club, and I was studying both Spanish and Chinese. I wrote down all of my extracurriculars on a piece of paper and tried to divide them into two distinct passions. The two that I came up with were performance and study of Chinese culture. - I completely dropped track and I stopped volunteering at the soup kitchen. I dropped track junior year and instead became more heavily involved in theatre, and I even joined the school's theater board. Instead of volunteering at the soup kitchen, I actually started my own community service club at my school, where student musicians could go out to our local city and perform on the street to raise awareness and funds for a local charity. I dropped Spanish and focused fully on my study of Mandarin Chinese. With the help of my Mandarin teacher, I was able to study abroad in China for a month. In the summer after junior year, I got an internship at a translation and globalization company with a lot of clients in China, and I was able to talk about that in my essays as well. - You have to take an honest look at what you're doing and how you're spending your time, and then cut down certain things, so you're only focusing on one or two specific areas. - Because I took the time to do that, the admissions officer who was reading my application didn't just see a kid with great scores that was signing up for a bunch of clubs simply to get into x, y, or z school. What they saw was a student who had multiple interests and was willing to pursue them at a very deep level. - Come up with one or two things that you actually really do enjoy. And brainstorm extracurricular activities based on those interests. Literally anything can be a passion-- you just have to be creative.

Often students struggle between whether to major in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. These are two of the most common engineering disciplines so I wanted to address this question for those who are undecided. The good news is that both mechanical and electrical engineers are needed for nearly every engineering project out there. You'll see both of them working in various departments all across engineering companies. What's more important is deciding what you are going to enjoy learning about more. Rockets, aircrafts, medical equipment, etc are all worked on by both majors. The question is whether you are more passionate about the circuits, signals, electronics, and so on OR the structures, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, etc behind the projects you'll work on. This will most likely determine which engineering major is better for you. If someone enjoyed both disciplines equally and I had to make a decision, I would say to choose mechanical engineering and specialize in mechatronics. This way you will have exposure to both engineering disciplines that you know you enjoy. *************************************** For information on math, science, and engineering majors, check us out at https://majorprep.com *************************************** ►Patreon: https://patreon.com/majorprep ►PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/majorprep ►Facebook: https://facebook.com/majorprep

How to understand you're suffering from depression? How to get rid of depression which is a serious health condition that can’t be ignored? Depression is a serious matter that, unfortunately, doesn’t get talked about enough. Simply feeling a little sad can make us think that we're depressed, but that's not always the case…or is it? Let's find out what signs are hinting that you might actually be suffering from “the plague of the 21st century”. How to recognize depression? 0:54 The most common signs of depression are the following: you constantly feel down and tired. Your self-esteem has hit rock bottom. You have concentration and memory problems and troubles sleeping. Your weight changes, it can go either way: you all of a sudden gain several pounds or your weight drops drastically. Nothing, including your favorite food, TV show, video game, or even meeing up with your besties, brings you pleasure. You experience mood swings, and you can suddenly become extremely short-tempered with a lack of basic tolerance. Your health deteriorates. It's really common for depressed people to suddenly start experiencing aches and pains, most frequently in the joints or back. If at least 3 to 4 signs hit home for you, it most likely means that you have some form of depression. Basically, the more signs you’re showing, the more depressed you are. How to make it better? 7:34 The first thing you have to do is go to the doctor. According to psychotherapist Sean Grover, there are steps you can take in three areas of your life to make your mental state better. The first thing to take care of is your body. Start doing 30-minute workouts at least 3 times a week, get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and add more of your favorite foods to your diet, especially sugary ones. The second and equally important part is your mind. Try to explore the world around you as if you never have before. Finally, your spirit should also get a dose of treatment too. Student Positioning for College matches the Right School to the Right Student in these areas; academics, social, and financial affordability. http://collegeselectionstrategy.com/student-positioning There are 4 basic reasons student positioning is important. First, the cost of higher education continues to rise dramatically compared to other cost factors in the economy outpacing everything. Graduation on time within four years is more important than ever. According to act.org, only 36% of public school inbound student will graduate in four years and 49% for private schools. Second, Enrollment Management Principles utilized by Colleges sort freshmen to be applicants by hard and soft factors. The application review process makes it imperative that the applicant understands what the school values for admission and what the data is based upon percentages of accepted enrolled students for the most recent year available. For example, measure the 50% percentile of accepted students for the SAT and ACT Test scores then evaluate where the student's scoring aligns when determining whether the school should be considered a safety school, target school, or reach school. Third, the better the student position relative to the measuring factors mentioned below, the better the potential Financial Aid Award from the school. We are talking about both needs based financial aid and merit aid / tuition discounts that do not have to be paid back, College Free Money. The fourth advantage of student positioning is it improves the accuracy of your application schools when determining your safety schools, target schools, and reach schools. The next step in the process is to compares the student to College Freshman Profile of each college you are considering for application. First we need to understand hard factors and soft factors that are considered. Hard factors are anything that is quantifiable. Soft factors are everything else. Here is how it works. Look at the middle 50% scoring range of the school. For example, take the SAT Test. You measure the student's scores with the school's 50% scores of recent incoming freshman. Then you can evaluate whether the school would be a safety school, target school, or reach school. If the SAT score is greater than the 50% range then it would be a safety school. If the score is in the middle of the 50% range it would be a target school. If the score is below the 50% range it might be classified as a reach school depending on how much lower. Here are the 10 Major Student Positioning Factors Colleges look at. Grade Point Average (GPA) AP Scores/Course Rigor Class Rank in Competitive High School Standardized Tests (ACT/SAT) Extracurricular Activities Essay Interview Recommendations (teachers, alumni, etc.) Diversification of Student Minority Alumni meaning Legacy Award Geographic Diversity Talent Demonstrating Interest College Visitation College "Fair Nights" Meet Regional Representative Department Heads of Major Email | Get On Mailing List Be Creative and Be Recognized Now let's take a closer look at each factor of the admissions process and decision. Alert, when it comes to going to college, saving money, student positioning is much more important than you might realize. Shuffle the application folders on the Colleges, they use student positioning so should you. Get on top of the College Application folders by using Student Positioning. Welcome back guys! In the previous video, we already saw some of the differences between the studies in India and in Germany. If you haven’t yet seen that video, please check it out on my channel Till the end of this video, you will already feel a bit more secure, about the decision you are going to make about your future University. The main question that everyone asks is, what is the right university for me in Germany? How should I decide that the University I am choosing for my Masters in Germany will turn out to be the right University for me. To try and answer some of these questions, I made this video for you. Please pardon the quality of the camera! :) Now, there is always a difference between the Technical Universities and the Applied Sciences Universities. In Technical Universities, you are given a deeper knowledge of your subject theoretically but in Universities of applied sciences, you are taught more practically, so that you are already ready for the industry, where you are going to work after your masters. Important points to keep in mind while selecting a University: 1. Money or Tuition Fees 2. Language 3. Eligibility Criteria My final advice would also be that apply to as many Universities as you can, if your grades are not that great. A grade point of 8-9 is considered very good and you will have no problems in applying to the University, but we all know the struggle of getting that kind of grades in India. It’s no joke! If you like this video, please don’t forget to share it with your friends or on your Facebook timeline and please subscribe and press the like button. In the next video, we will talk about, how you can still get an admission at a University, even after you got a rejection letter. If you have any comments or suggestions, please leave them in the comment section! I am always happy to hear constructive comments from you guys! If there is a theme I should cover in my next video, please share that too! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✅🎓🇩🇪Complete Guide to Studying in Germany: https://goo.gl/zxqdVt ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For selecting universities: 1. www.daad.de 2. www.mastersportal.eu 3. www.ingenieurwesen-studieren.de 4. https://www.studis-online.de/Studieren/ My website: http://www.bharatingermany.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow me on FACEBOOK Profile: https://facebook.com/bharatingermany Page: https://www.facebook.com/Bharat-in-Germany-1203402319786921/ (Don't forget to leave a rating on the FB page!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/bharat.in.germany ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Consider supporting me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/bharatingermany

Hey Goodrooski squad! In today's video my brother Ty and I take on the popular kids game called "Throwing darts at a map". In my twist I put items on the map that I hope will make slime. If you are a good aim you will be able to make some really fun and exciting slime. But if your aim is poor you may end up with ketchup, or other items that do not really belong in slime, but could make for an interesting challenge. We love playing new challenges this challenge with the map and darts is really fun as you have to test your skills in order to win and make the best slime. This game is kid friendly and family fun, I would challenge you to see if you can make a map as fun as ours and recreate this game at your house. We use magnetic darts that stick to a metal board, then we tried our best to make a map of the United States, then finally placed items on the map that we feel would make slime (and then we added some not so good items). The rules are simple: First you decide who goes first, we played the fun kids game rock paper scissors to see who would throw the first dart. Determine how far back to stand, then each person takes a turn throwing a dart at the very colorful dartboard map. What I love about this game is you can switch it up and play it so many different ways. What would you like to see next? Travel theme, food theme, toy theme, mix up and add all items? How do BSN-Educated RNs stack up against RNs with an Associate’s Degree or Diploma? What You Should Know Before Choosing a Nursing Degree First things first: Let’s eliminate some of the confusion that might be out there; “RN” is a license, while “BSN” is a degree. The standard education for earning an RN license has always been an Associate’s Degree in nursing ADN, but more often people are choosing to earn a BSN as a pre-licensure degree. RNs who have earned a bachelor’s degree will sometimes use “BSN”(John Doe, BSN, RN) as a credential after their name, but it’s important to understand that a BSN (BSN = RN) nurse is still a registered nurse by definition. A nursing diploma, an associate degree (ADN), or a bachelor’s degree (BSN) will all allow you to take the NCLEX-RN and become licensed as an RN. However, each option varies greatly in how well they prepare you for a career in nursing. So the question on everybody’s mind is, ‘What’s the real benefit of putting in the extra time and paying the extra money to earn a BSN?’ Diploma, ADN, BSN - What Is the Difference? The nurse diploma (Nurse Diploma) program is typically offered through hospitals. At once popular, this option is not as common due to the nursing field becoming more demanding. The program, which lasts 1-3 years, focuses strictly on nursing-specific topics (patient care, lifespan nursing, nutrition, etc.). Upon graduation and passing the NCLEX, you would be ready for an entry-level position. For the past several decades, the associate degree in nursing (Associate Degree in Nursing ADN) has been the standard for RNs. Usually offered at community colleges, this degree will take 2-3 years to complete. Because this is a degree program, general education courses such as English, math, and humanities will be required beyond the nursing classes. This pathway will prepare you for the NCLEX as well as an entry-level position. Of the three options, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN is the most in-depth and comprehensive. Although this program takes 4-5 years to complete, your employment opportunities will be more diverse and higher paying. This degree option encompasses the course work taught in the ADN program as well as courses in leadership, nursing informatics, research, and community or public health. All RNs qualify for positions in skilled nursing homes, doctor’s offices, and hospitals. No matter what degree they hold, they all start their careers at a similar level and have to put in some time to earn their stripes before taking on more responsibilities. Still, you’re going to find more entry-level jobs are available to BSN-prepared nurses, and there’s definitely a lot more opportunities for advancement when you have a higher degree. Since baccalaureate-level nurses often have stronger communication and critical-thinking skills, they are often able to transition to leadership roles sooner. In fact, many clinical leadership roles require a BSN. The AACN has even reported that 44% of hospitals require new nurses to hold a BSN, while 79% show a strong preference for BSN-educated RNs. While RNs with a diploma or associate’s degree often qualify for the same nursing jobs as BSN-educated RNs when it comes to direct patient care in hospitals and clinics, other employers often prefer a BSN. This opens the door for more opportunities with insurance providers and in areas like clinical research. For those interested in military service, a BSN will qualify you to serve as an officer, resulting in higher pay than RN enlisted members. Nursing salaries are also commensurate with education, specialty, and experience. For example, the national median salary for an ADN-prepared RN with between 1-4 years of experience is about $61,000 ADN $61,000, while BSNs with the same level of experience earn nearly $70,000 BSN $70,000. Nursing occupations play a big role in determining salaries. Nurses serving in areas with high responsibility such as Pediatrics, Critical Care, Leadership, or Public Health will command a greater salary (Please place with typography of your choice without the comma in between). Nurses that hold a BSN are more likely to obtain careers in these specialties. And when a BSN takes advantage of their education by moving into roles that require more responsibility, they can expect to earn considerably more. For example, a BSN working as a clinical nurse manager can earn over $80,000. Quality of Care Just within the past 5 years, research has shown that BSN graduates deliver higher quality care than their RN counterparts. We hosted a panel discussion with five young adults to learn more about their experiences finding a school or path after high school that is supportive of their gender. What advice would you give young people thinking about the path ahead? Share with us in the Gender Spectrum Lounge: http://genderspectrum.org/lounge/ Skip to specific questions using the links below: 1:07 - Introductions - Share your name, pronouns, where you live and anything else important the audience should know about you. 4:08 - What path did you choose after high school and why did you choose that path? 11:50 - Did you gender impact your decision at all? 20:10 - How did you find communities in these new settings? Was it easy? Hard? How was your experience and is it now? 31:50 - What is the most important thing to consider if you plan to start to transition with hormones four months prior to entering as a freshmen and living in dorms? Would it be better to take a gap year after you’ve had a chance to adjust to transitioning? 37:45 - So looking back now, has anything come up that’s been surprising to you or something that you weren’t expecting that you wish you would have known when you were maybe like that senior in high school, trying to map out what path to choose? 43:24 - When and how do you talk to your professors about name and pronoun changes? I read on Tumblr that most people send email professors before class starts to avoid confusion, but I’d love to hear actual experiences. 47:45 - What was your level around disclosure? Did this change over time? And how did you decide who and when you disclosed to? 52:28 - Is there anything you want to share that maybe wasn’t asked, like in a specific question? Is there anything on your mind that you’re feeling like you really want to share with people who are going to be watching this? Are there any last closing things you want to share with the group? 55:14 - Does anyone else want to share anything?
