However, setting min_util appropriately is a difficult problem for users. Generally speaking, finding an appropriate minimum utility threshold by trial and error is a tedious process for users. If min_util is set too low, too many HUIs will be generated, which may cause the mining process to be very inefficient. On the other hand, if min_util is set too high, it is likely that no HUIs will be found. In this paper, we address the above issues by proposing a new framework for top-k high utility itemset mining, where k is the desired number of HUIs to be mined. Two types of efficient algorithms named TKU (mining Top-K Utility itemsets) and TKO (mining Top-K utility itemsets in One phase) are proposed for mining such itemsets without the need to set min_util. We provide a structural comparison of the two algorithms with discussions on their advantages and limitations. Empirical evaluations on both real and synthetic datasets show that the performance of the proposed algorithms is close to that of the optimal case of state-of-the-art utility mining algorithms.

Efficient Algorithms for Mining High Utility Itemsets from Transactional Databases Abstract—Mining high utility itemsets from a transactional database refers to the discovery of itemsets with high utility like profits. Although a number of relevant algorithms have been proposed in recent years, they incur the problem of producing a large number of candidate itemsets for high utility itemsets. Such a large number of candidate itemsets degrades the mining performance in terms of execution time and space requirement. The situation may become worse when the database contains lots of long transactions or long high utility itemsets. In this paper, we propose two algorithms, namely utility pattern growth (UP-Growth) and UP-Growth+, for mining high utility itemsets with a set of effective strategies for pruning candidate itemsets. The information of high utility itemsets is maintained in a tree-based data structure named utility pattern tree (UP-Tree) such that candidate itemsets can be generated efficiently with only two scans of database. The performance of UP-Growth and UP-Growth+ is compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms on many types of both real and synthetic data sets. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms, especially UPGrowth+, not only reduce the number of candidates effectively but also outperform other algorithms substantially in terms of runtime, especially when databases contain lots of long transactions.

Discovering association rules using the Apriori algorithm

There are several mining algorithms of association rules. One of the most popular algorithms is Apriori that is used to extract frequent itemsets from large database and getting the association rule for discovering the knowledge. Based on this algorithm, this paper indicates the limitation of the original Apriori algorithm of wasting time for scanning the whole database searching on the frequent itemsets, and presents an improvement on Apriori by reducing that wasted time depending on scanning only some transactions. The paper shows by experimental results with several groups of transactions, and with several values of minimum support that applied on the original Apriori and our implemented improved Apriori that our improved Apriori reduces the time consumed by 67.38% in comparison with the original Apriori, and makes the Apriori algorithm more efficient and less time consuming.

By combining these two methods we can achieve better efficiency by finding accurate intrusion in the database. The proposed method can be place on database management level and thus provide security to the database. The existing systems have limitations of missing few intrusions and high false positive rates and also they have overhead of creating profiles and keeping record of all the activities and update the large database every time. Intrusion detection technology refers to identify any activities of damage to the computer system security, integrity and confidentiality Different from the traditional operating system reinforcement, authentication and firewall security isolation technology, intrusion detection as an active dynamic security defence technologies, it provides internal attacks and external attacks and misuse in real-time protection. Data mining is an interdisciplinary field, affected by a number of disciplines, including database systems, statistics, machine learning, visualization and information science. There are many data mining methods commonly used in database intrusion detection, in which the association rule mining algorithm and sequential pattern mining algorithm are widely applied in particular. Most of existing works are devoted to topic modeling and the evolution of individual topics, while sequential relations of topics in successive documents published by a specific user are ignored. In this paper, in order to characterize and detect personalized and abnormal behaviors of Internet users, we propose Sequential Topic Patterns (STPs) and formulate the problem of mining User-aware Rare Sequential Topic Patterns (URSTPs) in document streams on the Internet. They are rare on the whole but relatively frequent for specific users, so can be applied in many real-life scenarios, such as real-time monitoring on abnormal user behaviors. We present a group of algorithms to solve this innovative mining problem through three phases: preprocessing to extract probabilistic topics and identify sessions for different users, generating all the STP candidates with (expected) support values for each user by pattern-growth, and selecting URSTPs by making user-aware rarity analysis on derived STPs. Experiments on both real (Twitter) and synthetic datasets show that our approach can indeed discover special users and interpretable URSTPs effectively and efficiently, which significantly reflect users’ characteristics.

Discovering Valuable items from Massive Data KDD 2015 Hastagiri P. Vanchinathan Andreas Marfurt Charles-Antoine Robelin Donald Kossmann Andreas Krause Suppose there is a large collection of items, each with an associated cost and an inherent utility that is revealed only once we commit to selecting it. Given a budget on the cumulative cost of the selected items, how can we pick a subset of maximal value? This task generalizes several important problems such as multi-arm bandits, active search and the knapsack problem. We present an algorithm, GP-SELECT, which utilizes prior knowledge about similarity between items, expressed as a kernel function. GP-SELECT uses Gaussian process prediction to balance exploration (estimating the unknown value of items) and exploitation (selecting items of high value). We extend GP-SELECT to be able to discover sets that simultaneously have high utility and are diverse. Our preference for diversity can be specified as an arbitrary monotone submodular function that quantifies the diminishing returns obtained when selecting similar items. Furthermore, we exploit the structure of the model updates to achieve an order of magnitude (up to 40X) speedup in our experiments without resorting to approximations. We provide strong guarantees on the performance of GP-SELECT and apply it to three real-world case studies of industrial relevance: (1) Refreshing a repository of prices in a Global Distribution System for the travel industry, (2) Identifying diverse, binding-affine peptides in a vaccine design task and (3) Maximizing clicks in a web-scale recommender system by recommending items to users.

No Man's Sky Living Glass Farm - 20 million plus per hour (Pre Next update)

Ok here are the details. First the plants. To make 1 living glass you need 1 glass + 1 lubricant. To make 1 glass you need 250 frost crystals (5 frostwort plants - 15 mins grow time). To make 1 lubricant you need 50 coprite (2 coprite plants - 30 mins grow time) + 400 gamma root (8 gamma weed plants - 30 mins grow time). So, for each living glass you wish to make per 30 min harvest you need 8 gamma weed plants, 2 coprite plants and 5 frostwort plants (if you only want to harvest every 30 mins, you could get away with fewer frostwort plants but would need to harvest every 15 mins). Now the farm. If you want to make your farm possible in any environment then you would probably get about 17 biodomes (a biodome placed on a structure with a ladder to enter allows you to grow 16 plants, but a biodome on the floor needs a door which will remove 3 plant slots lowering the plants per biodome to 13), a trade terminal and a landing pad. That would probably put your base near full complexity. Provided you put 1 of the biodomes on the roof of the main non-deletable base building this would give you 224 plant slots, enough to make just short of 15 living glass per 30 min harvest. I made my base on a cold planet, started off just farming glass and then built up to a living glass farm. A cold planet lets you plant frostwort plants outside, so I didn't need to put my frostwort plants inside biodomes. This lets me reduce the number of biodomes and use the base complexity from the reduced biodomes towards growing more plants. It would be most efficient to set up a living glass farm on a radioactive planet so you could grow the plant you need most of, gamma weed, outside. Anyway, on my cold planet base I have the following: The main non-deletable base building. 13 biodomes (one on roof of main base building, rest on floor with 1 door for entry) - gives me 172 plant slots. 34 coprite plants in biodome plant slots. 136 gamma weed plants in biodome plant slots. 85 frostwort plants in rows outside. 1 trade terminal. All 10 storage containers. A save point. This puts my base complexity limit at 97%. I had a landing pad too, which put my complexity to 99%, but I deleted it because the npc pilots landing in my base was annoying me, and my game sometimes freezes up a bit when I enter/leave on foot/starship, I think the high base complexity and having so many flowering plants causes this. I also have all three exocraft pads but built just outside base border so they don't use any of the base complexity value. The harvest from all the plants gives me 17 living glass per 30 minutes. The galactic average for living glass is around 760,000 per living glass. If you don't sell for less than 700,000 you stand to make 11,900,000 minimum from each 30-min cycle (takes 10 mins on average to harvest and combine leaving you 20 minutes free between cycles). Also note that the price in a system drops after every product you sell, so sell as many of the item as possible in one go to ensure the price rate for the whole stock. My current ship holds 135 living glass (just short of 8 harvests - 4 hours growing time) which brings in 94,500,000 selling at 700,000 per living glass. I only sell in a system once as after selling 135 living glass, the price drops to near half the galactic average. Remember, you don't always have to go back dead on time to harvest your crops, but if you want to make cash fast for a freighter or new ships then it is best to. I sometimes just leave my character idle in my base whilst reading/watching Netflix/playing monster hunter on a handheld and then just spend 10 mins harvesting every 30-min cycle, dump the living glass in a storage container and go back to my book/show/game for another 20 mins. Edit: I have heard the price for selling something in a system will revert back to it's default after 1 week but I have not confirmed/tested this. If this is true it would be worthwhile keeping a system in your base warp list if it buys living glass at a good price.

Creepy Abandoned Mining Hospital

While cruising through the Rocky Mountains, I stumbled on this group of mysterious abandoned houses that looked to date from the 1960s or '70s....one of which was full of the CREEPIEST rusty old abandoned medical furniture and equipment!! This was in an area of major mining activity in the 1800s, which was reclaimed/cleaned up sometime in the last 50 years...so maybe these buildings had something to do with mine cleanup, and the medical stuff was part of some old abandoned mining hospital. Who knows?! All I can say for sure is, it was CREEPY AS ALL GET-OUT! Of course near the end, I conjecture as to what exactly happened here....stay tuned til the end for the sad, sad tale of Little Jimmy Dickens, the mulleted, mustachioed Cadillac-driving loser who crashed his Brougham one snowy night coming over the pass from Durango!

Vex’ahlia presses their dwarven captive for information. The Duergar only laughs at the barbarian's plight, and spits out warnings of the “master” that awaits them below, before Vax’ildan finally puts her out of her misery. After an uneasy night’s rest for the party and hours of meditation for Keylith, the druid is thankfully able to restore Grog’s mind, and the Vox Machina continue down through the great cavern. They pass through a gutted goblin village strewn with corpses, and eventually spy another group of Duergar, dragging along 3 dwarven captives. Scanlan and the twins whip out their flying carpet and tail the Duergar from afar, over a thin, creeking rope bridge. Scanlon disappears from sight, and now invisible, carefully makes his way into a war camp teeming with dark dwarves, ogres, and trolls. There he bears witness to an Illithid controlling all those around him, devouring the mind of one of the three dwarven miners. After catching his companions up, the group hatches a plan to lure their enemies into an illusion and drop them to their doom, into the cavern below the bridge. It is partially successful, but then, while acting as living bait, Vax’s mind is stunned by the Illithid and he is almost dropped to his death before Tiberius swoops in to save him. With the plan now in disarray, Vex and Keylith decide to delve into the chasm below the bridge, in spite of their companions’ protests. Their instincts serve them well though, and hidden behind a subterranean waterfall they find a cave. Within it awaits a powerful and unlikely ally. How To Set Up Your WAR BELT | DUTY BELT | SF Assaulter Gear | Tactical Rifleman

Ask, and you will receive! The war belt in the video is made by ATS: http://atstacticalgear.com/ So, this week’s video covers how to set up your Duty Belt, currently called a “War Belt.” Assaulters have been running gun belts or duty belts for decades. These usually included just a pistol holster, spare pistol magazines and maybe a dump pouch. Fast forward, and the current trend is to move commonly used kit from your Body Armor to your Duty Belt. This does two things. First, it helps take a lot of weight off of your shoulders (where your Body Armor rides), and transfers it to your pelvic girdle. This helps cut down on a lot of the pain of being in Body Armor all night long. 38 pounds of “lightweight” kit is still 38 pounds of “lightweight” kit. Any way I can help cut down on the pain, brother, I’m willing to try it. Second, by running much of your commonly used kit on your duty belt, you can still develop and maintain that “muscle memory”, even when you’re not wearing full “battle-rattle” on the range. Whether you are just running a quick class or burning up a half hour on the range prior to the ops briefing, you can still shoot and reload from your support side, just like if you were in full kit. Also, while you are back inside the wire, and your armor is grounded in the ready room, you can still walk around the FOB with your duty belt and rifle. You aren’t expecting to get into a gunfight, but if it happened, you still have at least some ammo and medical gear. That’s better than nothing. Setting up your War Belt is just like setting up your Armor; keep it simple and carry a minimum amount of gear. (Pistol / Ammo / Med / Special Equipment) Do you need to carry flash bangs? Probably not. I carry a few because I often use them in classes with students out at T1G. Looking for the most useful items from quest on OSRS? This video counts down my top ten useful items from quest on OSRS / Runescape 2007 / 2007scape / rs07 The list: 10. Silly Jester Boots - These come from The Fremennik Isles Quest, and they’re useful because they offer the second highest defense bonus for any boots in the game. This means they’re tired with infinity boots which currently cost 2m, so you get all that defense for free! The only downfall, however, is that they offer no magic attack bonus. But if you’re looking to buff up your magic defense without risking your wealth these boots will do. 9. Holy wrench - Obtained from the Rum Deal Quest it can be used to gain bonus prayer points when drinking a payer potion or super restore potion. To get this bonus you must have it in your inventory. The amount of bonus prayer points you will gain is dependent on your prayer level, but it becomes worth it after level 50 prayer. I’d say item is nice because well all know how expensive prayer potions can be. 8. Ectophial - This is a reward from the Ghosts Ahoy quest, and it’s is used to teleport outside Port Phasmatys. It’s a free one click teleport that is close to a fairy ring. I use this teleport daily for my herb runs, and before I had my quest cape I used it to get to the fairy ring. 7. Ancient Mace - Acquired during the Another Slice of H.A.M quest this mace is a prayer machine. Its special attack will make it so you gain the amount of prayer points equal to your hit and subsequently your opponent will also lose prayer points equal to your hit. This makes this idea amazing in places like night mare zone 6. Salve Amulet or Salve Amulet (e) - This item is a reward from the Haunted Mine quest and you’re going to want the upgraded version by also finishing the Tarn's Lair Miniquest. This amulet acts as a replacement to a black mask when on a task that requires the helmet slot to be used, such as by nosepegs – however not very useful if you have a slayer helm. Most importantly though, this item gives a crazy damage boost against undead monsters; giving an increase of melee accuracy and damage by 20%. This amulet is required from some of the best combat exp/hr. 5. Ava’s Accumulator - Obtained after the quest Animal Magnetism this item have saved billions in range supplies since its release in 2006. The Ava's Accumulator can picks up a player's ammunition. It should also gives the best Ranged attack bonus for the cape slot. 4. Helm of Neitiznot - From the quest Fremennik Isles this helmet offers substantial defense, strength, and prayer bonuses. It also does not degrade. These features have made it one of the most useful and used helmets in the game. If you’re a new player looking to buff up your gear, and you think you can take on the mighty Ice Troll King finishing this quest will aid you in that venture. 3. Proselyte armour - This great prayer armor can be obtained after completing the Slug Menace quest. It’s so useful because of its immense prayer bonus. This means when equipped your prayer will deplete much slower than normal. This makes this armor common place for many slayer task, and training methods. 2. Barrows gloves - The legendary barrows gloves, obtainable after completion of the Recipe for Disaster quest. Barrows gloves provide the best offensive statistics for melee and ranged – they also have the highest Strength bonus out of all the gloves ingame. Because of these gloves high stats and quest requirements they are sought after by high level players. Many of the best PVM clans even require you have these gloves for entrance. So If you don’t have them yet, and you’re looking for a new goal maybe consider going for these gloves. 1. Cooking & Goldsmith Gauntlets - These gloves are obtained after completing the Family Crest quest. These gloves steal the number one spot because of their bonuses. The cooking gauntlets drastically reduce your chances of burning food – making them a very useful tool for anyone making mad cash cooking high level food or just going for 99. The goldsmith gauntlets increase your experience for smelting gold bars by almost 2.5 times, making them a staple for training smithing at blast furnace. These gloves make up two of the most used item in the game. I’m sure a vast majority of sharks and gold bars and cook and smithed with them respectively.
