What does MINING ENGINEERING mean? MINING ENGINEERING meaning - MINING ENGINEERING definition - MINING ENGINEERING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Mining engineering is an engineering discipline that applies science and technology to the extraction of minerals from the earth. Mining engineering is associated with many other disciplines, such as geology, mineral processing and metallurgy, geotechnical engineering and surveying. A mining engineer may manage any phase of mining operations – from exploration and discovery of the mineral resource, through feasibility study, mine design, development of plans, production and operations to mine closure. With the process of Mineral extraction, some amount of waste and uneconomic material are generated which are the primary source of pollution in the vicinity of mines. Mining activities by their nature cause a disturbance of the natural environment in and around which the minerals are located. Mining engineers must therefore be concerned not only with the production and processing of mineral commodities, but also with the mitigation of damage to the environment both during and after mining as a result of the change in the mining area. Mining Engineers in India are earning relatively high salaries in comparison to many other professions. The average salary for a Mining Engineer in India is $15,250. However, the salaries are always highly determined by the level of skill, where the organisation is based and which organisation you are working for. In comparison to salaries of Mining Engineer’s working in other regions, such as Canada, the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, the salaries are dismal, however when comparing salaries from one region to another, there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration, such as the cost of living etc.In the United States, there are an estimated 6,630 employed mining engineers. The mean yearly salary for a mining engineer in the U.S. is $90,070 .

Telecommunications engineers design, test and build the various technologies that allow people to communicate over distances. They may work in fields such as telephone and internet networks, radio and television broadcasting and satellite communications. Telecommunications engineers usually work for the major telecommunications companies, or for large organisations with private communication networks, such as remote mine sites in the Pilbara region. They design telecommunication networks, deciding on the technology to be used and where cables or broadcasting equipment needs to be placed, and oversee installation. These workers may also be responsible for testing and repairing faults. Australian mining means a lot to Australia. It supports our country, provides thousands of jobs - and is filled with great people. This is Len Thong's story. See more stories at: http://www.thisisourstory.com.au/ --- Len arrived in Australia as a three-year-old refugee with no parents and little more than the clothes on his back. Australia was the end of a journey that began one night when he was a baby. That night, his parents were fatally shot whilst attempting to cross the Thai border. At the time, Len was on his mother's back. He doesn't remember that crossing or his life with his parents. When he arrived in Australia, it marked a new beginning. And with hard work, Australia has lived up to the promises of freedom and opportunity that his parents were seeking. Len started his first job at the age of fourteen and became financially self-sufficient. His dedication continued while he was at University, where he completed a Mechatronic Engineering degree and then a Masters in Finance. At that time, he was also working full time as an engineer in a mining equipment simulation company. Len's original career goal was to move into investment banking, but he was offered a role at Argyle Diamonds which led him to Rio Tinto. Len hoped that within ten years, he would hold a management position with his determination and hard work driven by a desire to give his young family a great start in life. Six years into his plan, Len has had an opportunity to work with the company in London. This has enabled him to get an insight into how Rio Tinto headquarters operates and why certain decisions are made. 'A lot of people think mining is as simple as digging things up and shipping it off,' he says. 'They don't realise how sophisticated and complex the operation is.' After a role as Management Reporting Principal for the iron ore product group within Rio Tinto, Len now supervises the group-wide implementation of its new management reporting applications. He says: 'To receive positive feedback on efficiencies as a direct result of my work, gives me a sense that what we are doing is right... the current efficiencies are expected to only be the tip of the iceberg.' These cost savings will naturally boost profits and benefit the whole economy. It makes a difference to lives -- not just in relation to the growth in the economy today, but also in the investments we rely on for the future. Len has always known the value of hard work. Through his experiences in Australia and its mining industry, he also knows the value of freedom.

With the help of a friend, who is an engineer, we answer the question, "how to get a job in engineering?". A viewer who is about to graduate with an engineering major wants to know what he needs to do to get a job. I mentor others to find a rewarding career and to, ultimately, create a life they're proud of. My Website: http://www.101mentoring.com/ Want To Have Your Resume, Cover Letter and Interview Skills Pressure-Tested by 101 Mentor? http://www.101mentoring.com/productsandservices/careerprep My Products and Services: http://www.101mentoring.com/productsandservices Grab a free copy of my ebook, The Unfair Advantage: http://www.101mentoring.com/ebook/unfairadvantage Ask me a question: http://www.101mentoring.com/askyourquestion Once students realize there's one year left in school, the pressure is on to get a job in their major. It's no easy task and today we answer one student's question about getting a job with an engineering major. It's when college and university students head into their 4th/final year that they start thinking about what they need to do in order to get a job related to their degree after graduation. Some even wait till their last semester (which is really pushing it), and I'm an advocate of tackling it sooner than later. Today, I answer a very common question I get from college students of various majors, but this time it comes from a 4th year electrical engineering student who is wondering if he can get a job without co-op experience. Even better, I bring in a colleague and friend of mine who is an industrial engineer (who practices in Vancouver, Canada) to provide his insight as we go through the email together. To briefly recap, we discuss: - The need for pre-graduate work experience. If you don't have co-op experience, you're going to have to reach out to companies yourself to get a summer job or internship. - The leeway employers give to students that haven't graduated yet - that means you're allowed more mistakes during the interview and on the resume than another candidate that has actually graduated - The significance of getting experience, not necessarily work experience, but transferable skills from hobbies or activities outside of school that can be used to convince an employer to hire you. (This is likely more applicable to engineering than other majors.) - The importance of networking TODAY- not only to find potential firms to hire you for an internship but also to network with your current schoolmates and to see them not just as someone to help you with assignments but as a potential network to get you career opportunities 3 years from now. If you don't have many friends in your class, you're going to have to learn how to make some (see my link below on How To Make Friends As An Adult). - This means you're going to not only need the academic skills to DO the job, but also the social skills to build connections, make friends and conduct memorable and effective interviews in order to GET the job. From a strategic standpoint, and considering the advantages of looking for work experience BEFORE graduation, it may be worth contemplating extending your last semester or two by taking 2-3 courses in the semester to buy yourself some time and look for a engineering internship or summer job. I know this extends into time in college but I'd say it's worth it considering it may take you longer and be more difficult to find a job AFTER graduation. There are other items we discuss (eg. does GPA matter?) specific to the email in this video so be sure to check it out! I'd also strongly encourage students to grab my free ebook, The Unfair Advantage, as it goes through the job interview, resume writing and company search process.
