Golden Queen's Soledad Mountain Project
Soledad Mountain Mine is a gold-silver mine located near the town of Mojave in southern California. The mine uses conventional open pit mining methods, and cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore. The primary ore types are porphyritic rhyolite, flow-banded rhyolite, pyroclastics and porphyritic quartz latite. Prior to implementing blast movement monitoring, the site incorporated a buffer zone around ore zones to account for blast movement. Since implementing BMMs, Soledad Mountain Project has improved reconciliation by 7 - 13%. Find out more https://blastmovement.com

What is BORAX METHOD? What does BORAX METHOD mean? BORAX METHOD meaning & explanation
What is BORAX METHOD? What does BORAX METHOD mean? BORAX METHOD meaning - BORAX METHOD definition - BORAX METHOD explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ The borax method is a technique of artisanal gold mining, which uses borax as a flux to purify gold concentrates. By using borax, no mercury flour is produced, hence gold recovery increases. The borax method of gold extraction has been used by artisanal gold miners in the Benguet area north of Manila in the Philippines for more than 30 years. Some believe it was in practice as early as the 1900s. The method is increasingly being seen as a safe alternative to the widespread use of toxic mercury in artisanal gold mining today. About 30% of the world's mercury emissions comes from small scale mining. Efforts are being made to revive the method and spread its use. As of 2012, around 15,000 artisanal gold miners in a small area of Luzon, the main island in the northern portion of the Philippines, use this method exclusively. The mineral is inexpensive and easily available, and the miners have reportedly found that more gold is recovered through its use. In contrast to the use of mercury (which relies on amalgamation of the impurities) this method relies on borax's ability to lower all the minerals' melting points, including that of gold. Since the gold is usually the heaviest of these minerals, it allows for concentrating the gold on the bottom of the crucible. The process requires considerably less heat than conventional refining methods, which can be obtainable even in remote locations (using charcoal). After the ore is crushed into a fine powder, it's lightly panned to leave only the heaviest minerals in the pan. It's then thoroughly mixed by three times (by volume) as much of borax and a few drops of water. This mixture is then heated until the whole mixture is molten, after which molten droplets of gold collect on the bottom of the crucible.

How To Find Abandoned Mines
So, you want to know how to find a specific abandoned mine or abandoned mines in general? We will dive into answering that question in this video by taking you along on our search for an abandoned mine that took us two years to locate! Along the way you’ll have the opportunity to observe the tools and techniques we use to find the historic mines that appear in our videos and you will, hopefully, be able to incorporate some of what we have learned over the years (and are now sharing with you) into your own search for mines and mine sites. I will cover how we find out about mines in the first place, the research that we do, the online resources we utilize, the technology we take out in the field with us and more. Whether you are a historian or a gold miner looking for promising sites to file claims on or a mine explorer interested in documenting our industrial heritage or are just curious what is around the area where you live, this video will, hopefully, have something useful for you. Some of you will obviously already know many, if not all, of these search techniques. However, this video is intended to have something for everyone – from the novice to the experienced mine hunter. Many people have no interest at all in finding lost mines, but enjoying seeing them and the efforts of others to find them, and so I have included the footage of the mine when we finally found it for that demographic as well. Fortunately, we don’t normally have to work this hard to find an abandoned mine, but if our search for this mine, although quite unpleasant and frustrating at times, was useful to someone else out there, then it was worth it. Happy hunting! Here are the links for the websites mentioned in this video: https://thediggings.com/ caltopo.com http://www.mylandmatters.org/ http://www.westernmininghistory.com/ https://www.google.com/earth/ https://goldrushexpeditions.com/ ***** All of these videos are uploaded in HD, so adjust those settings to ramp up the quality! It really does make a difference… You can click here for the full playlist of abandoned mines: https://goo.gl/TEKq9L If you like these videos on exploring abandoned mines, please subscribe! https://goo.gl/yjPxH1 Thanks for watching! ***** Growing up in California’s “Gold Rush Country” made it easy to take all of the history around us for granted. However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them – nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well. These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that niche of our history is gone forever. But, guess what? We have fun doing it! This is exploring history firsthand – bushwhacking down steep canyons and over rough mountains, figuring out the techniques the miners used and the equipment they worked with, seeing the innovations they came up with, discovering lost mines that no one has been in for a hundred years, wandering through ghost towns where the only sound is the wind... These journeys allow a feeling of connection to a time when the world was a very different place. And I’d love to think that in some small way we are paying tribute to those hardy miners that worked these mines before we were even born. So, yes, in short, we are adit addicts… I hope you’ll join us on these adventures! #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines #UndergroundMineExploring

Example Gold Ore
Many people who may have difficulty to identify the gold in the rock, because gold is usually often confused with the kind of carrier minerals pyrite , chalcopyrite, pyrhotite, pentlandit and gold-colored mica, because the mineral carrier is very similar to a vein of gold ore. consequence of the existence of native gold movements in the earth's heat or thermal. Where the size of microcrystalline gold ore minerals are below 150 microns to 0.8 microns and fatherly look of metal ore we need a tool microscope. Microcrystalline gold deposits are generally found in the primary. Gold grains are disseminated in a gangue of quartz and intergrown or locked in sulfide minerals. Coarse grains can be liberated by crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration using a concentrator. If the ore consists of very fine grains extraction with a mixture of sodium cyanide to extract metal ore fatherly. Submicro crystalline gold particles and typically occur in the crystal lattice of certain sulfide ores. Gold contained in sulfide minerals present as small grains and particles in the crystal lattice of minerals. Many primary deposit consists of grains and disseminated in pyrite, chalcopyite, arsenopyrite or pyrrhotite containing large amounts of gold and intergrown with gangue minerals. Sulfide minerals can not be concentrated by gravity methods because the gravity is very low for gold sulfide. Froth flotation is the most common technique used to process the content of ore minerals in these rocks, followed by using sodium cyanide to remove gold. Mining techniques such methods are expensive and can only be used on large deposits, but has a low value to support the Processing Activities Visit Our Blog : http://miningeducation.blogspot.com/

Exploring Abandoned Big Horn Gold Mine (Lower Levels) San Gabriel Mountains
Big Horn Gold Mine, Mt. Baden Powell, Lower Levels. Shot with GoPro5 on head mount. First time recording dark environment. Hiking San Gabriel Mountains. This hike originates at Vincent Gap, high above the East Fork of the San Gabriel River, which you will see displayed in particularly dramatic fashion far below as you approach. This area of the San Gabriel Mountains is truly spectacular, and you will want to spend some time snapping some pics, and studying the terrain if you’re into mountain topography. If you bring a map of the San Gabriel Mountains you can get a good feel for a large area since the view is so extraordinary. Big Horn Mine History The Big Horn Mine is a tale of the ambition and determination of 19th century gold miners in a harsh mountain environment. The information in this section is obtained from the preeminent Southern California mountain historian, John W. Robinson, primarily from his amazing and carefully researched book Mines of the San Gabriels. The East Fork of the San Gabriel River has a long and storied history of gold mining. Conventional lore has it that the first miners arrived from the Sierra Nevada mines in 1854, but it was not until 1859 that major placer deposits were discovered. The East Fork was immensely popular and quite productive, and a gold boom occurred from 1859 – 1862. The mining attempts never stopped, but continued, although at a reduced level, for many years. The Big Horn Mine was discovered by Charles “Tom” Vincent – after whom Vincent Gap and Vincent Gulch are named – in 1895, after many years of trying to find the Mother Lode that fed the rich deposits down in the East Fork. He named it the Big Horn Mine because he was hunting big horn sheep on the day of its discovery. Vincent was a true mountain man, and lived in a log cabin which he built himself, high up in Vincent Gulch. In 1902 Vincent and his partners sold their claim to the Lowell and California Mining Company. Under this ownership the Big Horn Mine went through its most productive years. They hacked the road along the mountain side, constructed a 10-stamp mill to crush the ore on site, and blasted many of the tunnels and shafts deep into the mountain, following the gold-bearing quartz veins. Deep in the mine the ore was loaded on carts which were rolled on tracks (which can still be seen near the entrance) to the stamp mill, were the ore was crushed. The ore was then loaded onto wagons for the long journey down the mountains for further processing. The Big Horn Mine was a profitable venture for almost a decade. At its peak from 1903 – 1906 over fifty men were employed at the mine. Eventually, as with all mining ventures in the San Gabriel Mountains, the veins were lost or played out, and the mine began losing money and was abandoned. In the 1930’s there was a brief rebirth when the American Metal Company leased the mine and put in a 50 ton mill operated by electrical power supplied up the mountain by Southern California Edison. The returns were not worth the expense, and the venture was abandoned in 1936. There was another burst of activity in 1941, but then the mine was shut again. The ownership of the mine changed several times from then until this century, with some exploratory work done now and again, but it was never again a viable operation. The Wilderness Land Trust negotiated with a private mining company to buy the 277-acre property, and in 2007 the Trust secured long-term financing for the entire parcel. Once again, however, the siren song of the Big Horn Mine was heard. The rising price of gold made reopening the mine an attractive option for the Wilderness Land Trust. Tests revealed that much gold lies deep within the mine – however, it is buried deep within the hard rock of the mountain. Even with modern mining methods, it would be extremely difficult to mine. Because of this, the Trust optioned to transfer Big Horn Mine to the United States Forest Service. According to a Siskon Corporation confidential report of 1979, the Big Horn Mine was the largest producer in the mining district. The Big Horn Mine in its history produced 3,701 ounces of gold and 2,430 ounces of silver, in addition to 1,357 pounds of copper. That’s a helluvalotta precious metal, in my humble opinion. Today the Big Horn Mine stands desolate yet proudly high in the beautiful San Gabriel High Country, its rich and storied history now largely silent, yet it remains an interesting and exciting destination for Southern California hikers. Please leave your comments, I would love to hear from you !
Mining 101: Ep 12. How Do You Find a Vein?
Chairman of Exeter Resource Corp. Yale Simpson explains how you find a vein that is worth mining. From wiki: The difference between 19th century and modern mining techniques and the type of ore sought is based on the grade of material being mined and the methods of mining which are used. Historically, hand-mining of gold ores permitted the miners to pick out the lode quartz or reef quartz, allowing the highest-grade portions of the lodes to be worked, without dilution from the unmineralised wall rocks. Modern mining using larger machinery and equipment forces the miners to take low-grade waste rock in with the ore material, resulting in dilution of the grade. However, modern mining and assaying allows the delineation of lower-grade bulk tonnage mineralisation, within which the gold is invisible to the naked eye. In these cases, veining is the subordinate host to mineralisation and may only be an indicator of the presence of metasomatism of the wall-rocks which contains the low-grade mineralisation. For this reason, veins within hydrothermal gold deposits are no longer the exclusive target of mining, and in some cases gold mineralization is restricted entirely to the altered wall rocks within which entirely barren quartz veins are hosted. Gold Prospecting In Beach
Gold prospecting is the act of searching for new gold deposits. Methods used vary with the type of deposit sought and the resources of the prospector. Although traditionally a commercial activity, in some developed countries placer gold prospecting has also become a popular outdoor recreation. Prospecting for placer gold is normally done with a gold pan or similar instrument to wash free gold particles from loose surface sediment. Once placer gold is discovered, the gold pan is usually replaced by sluices or mechanical devices to wash greater volumes of material. Discovery of placer gold has often resulted in discovery of hardrock gold deposits when the placers are traced to their sources. A placer deposit is a concentration of a natural material that has accumulated in unconsolidated sediments of a stream bed, beach, or residual deposit. Gold derived by weathering or other process from lode deposits is likely to accumulate in placer deposits because of its weight and resistance to corrosion. In addition, its characteristically sun-yellow color makes it easily and quickly recognizable even in very small quantities. The battle over mining for gold in Marmato
The town of Marmato, in Central Colombia, sits on top a mountain of gold. Its people have been living off of it for centuries, mining the precious metal through mostly small scale, artisanal operations. But as the country is increasingly relying on its mineral resources to fuel the economy, multinational mining companies have set their sights on places like Marmato to install open air mines that would literally swallow the landscape. According to some estimates, it would take about 20 years to extract all the gold from the mountain, wiping out the town and its 10,000 inhabitants in the process. The imminence of this news weighs heavily on the people of Marmato, who are organizing to fight back and prevent this from happening. Correspondent Toby Muse traveled to the Colombian Andes Mountains to report on this story for Americas Now. Mine Cristal, mining quartz crystals
www.minecristal.ca Stay informed about our new videos: subscribe to our YouTube channel "Mine Cristal". This mine is located in Bonsecours, Quebec, Canada. Photos and video clips shown here date from 1989 - 2012. The open-pit mine produces splendid quartz crystals with exceptional clarity. The largest single crystals measure 60 cm (24 inches) in length. Since mining began in 1989, 32 types, or morphologies of quartz crystals have been catalogued. Geological research into the origins of these crystals has revealed that they formed at this location some 300 million years ago under extreme conditions of heat and pressure. We harvest crystals in the mine only as needed, to supply our store with a sufficient quantity of quartz crystals. Exceptionally (for a mine), we harvest all the crystals by hand and without the use of dynamite. It is a privilege for us to participate in the discovery and extraction of these true gems of nature. The extraction process is done in a manner which respects both the environment and the crystals: we endeavor to keep the crystals whole and in a pristine state. In the museum and the store, our crystals are presented in an untouched, natural state. Amazingly, each crystal is an intricate work of art made by Nature; no two are alike and this makes them even more fascinating! Mine Cristal is considered by experts to be a “geological gem,” one of Canada’s great natural sites, due to it’s unique and abundant mineralogical deposits.

"Mining Pitch" - First Point Minerals President & CEO, Jim Gilbert...
Re-Discovering Nickel. First Point Minerals is exploring in Canada and internationally for a unique style of nickel mineralization called awaruite. It is neither sulphide nor laterite, but a naturally occurring metallic nickel-iron alloy - in effect, naturally occurring stainless steel. It represents a potential new, long-life, low risk source of nickel mine supply, and a possible game changer for the nickel industry. The Company's flagship Decar Project in central British Columbia has made significant strides towards proof of concept as to the commercial viability of awaruite deposits, under the management of our partner Cliffs Natural Resources, a Fortune 500 company and leading supplier to the steel industry. The positive results of a Preliminary Economic Assessment announced in March 2013 demonstrates the potential economic viability of the Decar Project as a large-scale, standalone open-pit mine and mill using conventional, low-risk magnetic separation and gravity recovery processing methods. With Decar as a model, $3.7 million in the bank, and exploration at Decar being funded by Cliffs, First Point is well positioned to capitalize on its first mover advantage as it continues to explore for additional discoveries in the Yukon Territory, B.C. and Norway. The results of First Point's 2013 exploration program, comprising detailed rock sampling and ground-based magnetic geophysical surveys, have defined a promising drill target at the Mich property in southern Yukon.

How To Find Gold Metal Detecting Where To Find Gold Metal Detecting Video GOLD & GEM LOCATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES - A TRILLION DOLLAR HUNT: https://youtu.be/eoIqJo95VtY New Prospecting Series How To announcement: https://youtu.be/WagbNmkVT6M Finished examples: http://www.ebay.com/usr/4-matt1 Petrified Wood we find while gold prospecting: http://www.ebay.com/usr/4-matt1 How to polish it: https://youtu.be/8Q8Lk92pYNw locations: http://www.treasuresites.com/treasurebooks.htm Gold and platinum are 15-19 times heavier than other streambed materials and concentrate in low pressure areas and cracks that run across rivers and streams. You look for a crack on the bank, and follow it out until you meet the "gold line" and there you suck it out with your dredge. Gold will be on the outside edge of a river gravel bar, at the head of the bar (large gold but usually beneath big boulders), and at the tail end of a bar (vast concentrations due to river bars forming in the shape of an airfoil and sucking fine gold to the tail end) but be small to microscopic at the tail end. Gold will travel down a river or stream in a line, usually off center of the high pressure water. Gold will settle behind a boulder. A good place to fish, can also be an excellent place to find gold. "Black sand" is iron ore that can be readilly identified in gravel bars and is a ready indicator that gold is probably present. The most effective and economical way for the average person to find paying concentrations of gold in a river or stream is with a simple ($80) sluice that you shovel into and the riffles retain gold, platinum, gems and anything heavy for you. Gold can be found up high on the old river channels and recovered with metal detectors, a gold wheel, a highbanker, or simply by identifying the material, shoveling it in your truck and working it out later in a wheel, or your simple stream sluice. The states which have gold in vast quantities are: Maine, Vermont, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, California, Idaho, Washington, Montana, and Oregon. The rest have gold as well, some in very good concentrations. All have gems of some kind that a sluice will seperate and hold. Good luck finding the gold of your dreams! How to find gold. Gold Panning Arizona Deserts .. KEENE 140 out of commission
Gold panning Arizona deserts . the plan was to do some dry washing with the keene 140 but ended up only panning ..still had a good day Prospecting for placer gold is normally done with a gold pan or similar instrument to wash free gold particles from loose surface sediment.[1] The use of gold pans is centuries old, but is still common among prospectors and miners with little financial backing. Deeper placer deposits may be sampled by trenching or drilling.[2] Geophysical methods such as seismic, gravity or magnetics may be used to locate buried river channels that are likely locations for placer gold.[3] Sampling and assaying a placer gold deposit to determine its economic viability is subject to many pitfalls.[4] Once placer gold is discovered, the gold pan is usually replaced by sluices or mechanical devices to wash greater volumes of material. Discovery of placer gold has often resulted in discovery of hardrock gold deposits when the placers are traced to their source Prospectors for hardrock, or lode gold deposits, can use many tools. It is done at the simplest level by surface examination of rock outcrops, looking for exposures of mineral veins, hydrothermal alteration, or rock types known to host gold deposits. Field tools may be nothing more than a rock hammer and hand lens. Hardrock gold deposits are more varied in mineralogy and geology than placer deposits, and prospecting methods can be very different for different types of deposits. As with placer gold, the sophistication of methods used to prospect for hardrock gold vary with the financial resources of the prospector. Drilling is often used to explore the subsurface. Surface geophysical methods may be used to locate geophysical anomalies associated with gold deposits. Samples of rocks or soil may be collected for geochemical laboratory assay, to determine metal content or detect geochemical anomalies.[5] Hardrock gold particles may be too small to see, even with a microscope. Most gold today is produced in large open-pit and deep underground mines. However, small-scale gold mining is still common, especially in third-world countries. A recent study by Australian scientists found that termites have been found to excrete trace deposits of gold. According to the CSIRO, the termites burrow beneath eroded subterranean material which typically masks human attempts to find gold, and ingest and bring the new deposits to the surface. They believe that studying termite nests may lead to less invasive methods of finding gold deposits.[6] where to find gold, how to find gold, minerals, mineral identification, gold mine, gold, the mine, mining gold, how do i find gold, rocks and minerals gold bug 2 mine lab garret arizona gold how to pan for gold gold bug 2 arizona gold prospecting little san domingo wash linx lake Arizona desert Minelab has a metal detector Gold mining in Alaska Gold in California Gold nugget Gold panning Gold Prospectors Association of America Gold rush Hushing Mineral exploration Placer mining Recreational gold mining little san domingo wash lynx lake GPAA how to

Gold Overview -- Gold Exploration & Mining (1/6)
A company whose principal activities consist of exploration for mineral, oil or gas may not progress to the next stage of development or to a stage where it is able to generate revenue. Minerals companies are amongst the top stocks on SGX, with an annual turnover velocity of more than 280%, a rate which is many more than times that of the typical stock. Gold holds a special allure for investors as it is a precious metal and a store of value. This seminar will touch of the risks of exploration & development of gold mineral deposits, including the various broad categories of goal mineral deposits and methods for development and extraction. Join our speaker Mark Berry (geologist), as he covers an overview of geology, exploration, development and extraction of iron ore and nickel, with emphasis on the risks that investors need to know about.
