Craig gives us some background on their targets and the drilling program they will undertake in 2019. Their focus for 2019 is very much on their ‘Larocque East’ property. IsoEnergy is very bullish on the Uranium market going forward, no surprise there, and Craig provides some background to that thinking, including supply side cuts coupled with the rising demand. Since interviewed Craig at Mines and Money IsoEnergy announced it had closed a bought deal private placement for pproximately $5.5 million and has commenced its Hurrican Zone drilling program at their Larocque East property. Find more Earth Focus content at https://www.linktv.org/earthfocus (Earth Focus: Episode 67) An impoverished former mining community in Colorado hopes that a proposed uranium mill will bring jobs and prosperity until environmentalists step in to try to stop it. Who gets to decide? Filmmaker Suzan Beraza documents the debate in her new film Uranium Drive-In. Rhinos are killed for their horn. But now in South Africa they face a new threat -- coal. Plans for an open cast coal mine on the border of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, home to the largest population in the world of the once endangered white rhino, may bring economic development. However, these plans will also worsen air and water quality and increase poaching and crime. Jeff Barbee reports from South Africa. The indigenous people in Ecuador's Kimsakocha wetlands rely on the land's water for their livelihood -- agriculture and livestock production. But there is gold under the water and foreign mining companies are out to get it. The local people mount a fierce opposition. "Resistance will not end, we will not give up even if we are in prison," says local community leader Carlos Perez. Constantino de Miguel reports from Ecuador.

FinancialFox Mining: Ready for the next big uranium bull run

27:27
In this episode of Financial Fox, Stefania Barbaglio (Steffy) talks to Brandon Munro, a well-known international uranium market expert and CEO of Banneman resources, an Australian Listed uranium company operating the largest uranium deposit in Africa. Uranium is one of the hottest tipped commodities in mining in recent times, due to the push for cleaner nuclear energy and lowering supply. Prices in uranium look promising in the medium to long term as more nuclear reactors start activities around the world and utilities demand more uranium. . Uranium demand could double by 2040, believes Brandon. Although prices are still holding back, it is generally agreed that it holds strong potential to shake up the commodity market in the near future with a rapid upturn that can bring substantial returns for investors who bought at the bottom of the market. Uranium should be on the watch-list of any investor. 11 Most Massive Mines in the World

10:20
From the worlds largest gold mine found on the top of a mountain to the largest diamond mine in the world here are the most massive mines in the world! Subscribe to American EYE! 5.. Asbestos Mine, Canada Also known as the Jeffrey Mine, it’s located in Asbestos, Quebec and it was in operation until 2012. It’s a whopping 2 kilometers wide and 370 meters deep! Check out this thing on google maps and you can tell how completely massive this thing is! It’s the by far the largest asbestos mine in the world. For a long period of time, people would use this mineral to put into their walls and keep their homes from catching on fire! But recently there’s been a link with asbestos and a disease called mesothelioma, which is a lung condition. This is a toxic substance that people should avoid, so obviously this large mine went out of business. The lake at the bottom might look like an inviting blue, but you can bet your bottom dollar, it’s highly toxic! The small town that grew with the thriving asbestos industry feels like they’ve kind of lost their identity once the mine was forced to close, but people do still live there. 4. Mcarthur River Uranium Mine In case you were wondering which mine produces the most uranium in the world, that would be of course the Mcarthur River uranium mine in Saskatchewan Canada. This huge deposit was found in 1988 and finally a mining operation took place in 1997, when it began producing what’s known as Yellowcake. It’s not the kind of yellow cake you’d eat with your grandparents. This stuff has a horrific odor and basically what it is, is concentrated uranium powder which can then be used for powering nuclear reactors. We imagine this powdery substance is quite difficult to get ahold of. There aren’t a ton of photos of this place but, it does produce about 13 percent of the global uranium production across the globe. 3. Diavik Diamond Mine In case you thought it was Africa who had all the massive diamond mines, think again! The Diavik Diamond mine, found in the the northwest territories of Canada is one of the largest producers of diamonds in the Northern hemisphere and this place is pretty crazy! They annually produce 7 million carats of diamonds each year and you better believe it’s not easy to get here. The Diavik mine is found north of the arctic circle and it’s definitely cold! This photo here shows the subarctic landscapes that surround the diamond mine. You thought getting to work in the morning was tough for you? Imagine trying to get to work here! Just recently in 2015, this diamond produced what was known as the Diavik Foxfire 187.7 which is one of the largest rough gem quality diamonds ever produced. 2. Siberian Diamond Mine Also known as the Mirny Mine, The USSR began searching for ways to make to make themselves a more economical stable and independent union. In 1955 the Soviets discovered large diamond deposits at this site in the far away lands of Siberia and many people got to work very quickly in order to help bring wealth to the union. After about 20 years of operations, they finally decided that At one point this mine produced 10 million carats of diamonds a year and reaches a max depth of 524 meters or around 1700 feet making it the 2nd largest excavated hole in the world. The mine is so deep, airspace is closed over the hole due to helicopter crashes caused from the downward flow of air. The construction of this in the frigid conditions of Siberia must have been grueling and downright cruel. Sources state that the machinery used at this mine had to be covered at night or it would freeze Are the diamonds worth freezing to death?! It’s unoperational today but Some claim that there’s still a bunch of diamonds in this mine and the whole thing could be worth about 12 Billion dollars. It’s possible that controlling this diamond is mine is crucial to controlling the price of diamonds across the world. Bingham Copper Mine The bingham copper mine located near Salt Lake City Utah is home to the biggest pit in the world and it’s been in operation since 1903. It’s about 2.5 miles wide and if it were a stadium, it would be able to fit an estimated 9.5 million people. It keeps getting bigger and bigger too! Diligent workers can move about 250,000 tons of rock each day and it’s even become a tourist attraction in recent years before a massive landslide took place. Some claim that this was the biggest non volcanic landslide to take place in North American modern history. This photo we see here shows you the aftermath of this massive landslide and Bingham Copper mine and it makes you wonder how safe some of the conditions at these mines truly are. The landslides were so massive, that they actually triggered a few small earthquakes! Experts estimated that 165 tons of earth slide down from the top of the mine all the way to the bottom.

Brandon Munro: The Uranium Bull Market Has Only Just Started

22:45
To subscribe to our newsletter and get notified of new shows, please visit http://palisaderadio.com Brandon reminisces about the last uranium market and how much of it was focused around Australia. Paladin was an incredible ride in 2005 when it moved from four cents to two dollars. Today we are in a very low price environment, and recent price changes are all pretty much irrelevant as they remain below the cost of production. The ongoing section 232 trade investigation into uranium has suppressed and paralyzed regular market activity. Supply continues to contract while demand for uranium is slowly increasing; he is confident that we are entering the next bull market. Time Stamp References: 0:45 - Brandon recalls the last uranium bull market. 2:30 - Similarities between this market and the last. 4:15 - Why price doesn't really matter at this level. 7:10 - Overcoming the thirty dollar price barrier. 9:00 - Effects of Fukushima on pricing and supply. 13:00 - Uranium supply deficit increasing. 15:00 - Possible risks in the uranium market. 17:30 - China's needs for nuclear. 19:30 - Uranium and why it's an opportunity now. 20:00 - Section 232 and US production of uranium.

In this remote town you’re either working at the uranium mines or fighting against them | Black Rock

27:05
Growing up in English River First Nation, the uranium mines were always part of Tenille Campbell's life. Even though she's lived hundreds of kilometres away from English River since she was 18, the mines have remained an important part of her story — on the day after their wedding, her ex-husband had to fly out to the mines to work for two weeks. But the mines are the only big business in the community. For Tenille, the dream of becoming a writer and photographer meant leaving her hometown for other opportunities. #CBCShortDocs #BlackRock • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • When Tenille speaks about the north, she talks about the northern lights and blueberries. The images she captures are full of beauty and laughter. When she talks about how she always imagined living her life up north, you can understand why. More than a decade after leaving home, Tenille returns an award-winning author and professional photographer. Now, she’s embarking on a new project: telling her community’s story and its complicated relationship with the uranium mines. She’s back to photograph and interview English River’s residents for her gallery show, to showcase the stories and faces of an Indigenous community caught in the boom and bust cycle of the uranium industry. English River First Nation’s history with the uranium industry has deep roots. For some, like Tom Lariviere (who has been working in the mines since the '70s), "the mines have improved the quality of living up here in the north." But not everyone agrees. English River First Nation residents Marius and Candyce Paul have spent the last two decades fighting what they call "the invasion" of the nuclear and uranium industries in the north. They've fought English River’s collaboration deal with the uranium companies, and the nuclear waste dump proposal in their community. They're concerned about the possible contamination of their lands and the possible health impacts on their people, so they've started collecting data on radioactivity in their community. They’ve also established a whistleblower’s hotline for miners to report any issues or concerns that may impact the land or the people at the mines. But in a town where the only significant source of employment is the uranium industry, fighting against it can be a lonely road. Black Rock follows Marius and Candyce Paul on their journey searching for the truth, in an attempt to protect and preserve their lands for their future generations. The film follows the intertwining stories of a remote community, exploring the complexities of being caught between putting food on the table and protecting the land that feeds you. Uranium Mining in US and Canada in the 1970s

08:51
Physically removing the rock ore generally involves either open-pit mining or underground mining. Milling is the process that removes uranium from the ore, which is mostly obtained in open-pit and underground mines. Once at the mill, the ore is crushed and ground up, and treated with chemical solutions to dissolve the uranium, which is then recovered from the solution. Tailings are the wastes from the millings processes and are stored in mill tailings impoundments, a specially designed waste disposal facility. Since 1979, when uranium mine workers began being diagnosed with lung diseases, such as cancer, regulators have gradually tightened controls and mandated improved uranium mining practices. Recently, officials also have become concerned with the broader impacts of uranium mining on public health and the environment. Workers are directly exposed to the radiation hazards of uranium mines. Uranium mining also releases radon from the ground into the atmosphere. Mines and mining waste can release radionuclides, including radon, and other pollutants to streams, springs, and other bodies of water. Federal and state agencies have established pollutant discharge limits and drinking water standards, and continue to monitor these sites for public safety. Uranium mine waste from operations that closed before the mid-1970s are of particular concern. In many cases, these mines remain unclaimed and the waste is still piled near the mine. Weathering can lead to radioactive dust that is blown by the wind and the seepage of contaminants into the surface and groundwater. There are also cases of unclaimed uranium mine waste being used for house construction, which creates significant radon and radiation hazard for inhabitants. For more information on the hazards of uranium, go to USEPA website http://www.epa.gov/radtown/basic.html . This is clipped from the late 1970's BBC Production, Energy From The Crust, showing uranium mining activities and equipment and including footage from the following uranium mines: Schwartzwalder Mine, Near Boulder, Colorado King Solomon Mine near Uravan, Colorado and the Key Lake Mine in Saskatchewan, Canada. The entire film is available at the Internet Archive.

"A Slow Genocide of the People": Uranium Mining Leaves Toxic Nuclear Legacy on Indigenous Land

17:31
http://www.democracynow.org - The iconic Grand Canyon is the site of a battle over toxic uranium mining. Last year, a company called Energy Fuels Resources was given federal approval to reopen a mine six miles from the Grand Canyon's popular South Rim entrance. A coalition of Native and environmental groups have protested the decision, saying uranium mining could strain scarce water sources and pose serious health effects. Diné (Navajo) tribal lands are littered with abandoned uranium mines. From 1944 to 1986, 3.9 million tons of uranium ore were chiseled and blasted from the mountains and plains of the region. More than 1,000 mines have closed, but the mining companies never properly disposed of their radioactive waste piles, leading to a spike in cancer rates and other health ailments. Broadcasting from Flagstaff, Arizona, we speak with Taylor McKinnon, director of energy with Grand Canyon Trust, and Klee Benally, a Diné (Navajo) activist and musician. "It's really a slow genocide of the people, not just indigenous people of this region, but it's estimated that there are over 10 million people who are residing within 50 miles of abandoned uranium mines," Benally says. Benally also describes the struggle to preserve the San Francisco Peaks, an area considered sacred by 13 Native tribes, where the Snowbowl ski resort is using treated sewage water to make snow. The potential for uranium mining through 2019 and beyond with Goviex Uranium

04:17
We caught up with Daniel Major, CEO of Goviex Uranium, an Africa-focused uranium mining company. They have projects in Niger, Zambia and Mali. With Goviex seeing an improving Uranium price, and permits in place for two of those projects, it sounds like 2019 will be very busy for Goviex. Daniel explained why Goviex is 100% focussed on Africa for their Uranium. He believes the speed at which projects can be set up is critical. Also, the mining culture in the countries in which they operate gives them a stable background to help take the company forward, after all, Uranium has been mined in many of these areas for over fifty years. What about uranium prices in the future? Daniel gives us his argument for why he’s bullish on Uranium prices – citing nuclear demand back to where it was pre-Fukushima, a faster rate of new reactor builds and a primary production deficit of Uranium at the moment.

Alain Deneault - Canadian Mining Companies and The Toronto Stock Exchange

02:14
Canadian Author Alain Deneault discusses the little-known fact about Canadian mining companies. Alain Deneault is a sociologist at the University of Quebec in Montreal. He is co-author of "Black Canada: Pillage, Corruption, and Criminality in Africa," a book that details well-sourced human rights abuses by the multinational resource companies Barrick Gold and Banro Corporation. The companies have responded with $11 million in lawsuits, aimed at bankrupting their critics with court fees. and the publisher for a total of $11 million. Deneault's main areas of research are George Simmel's economic work and the phenomenon of economic criminality in the context of globalization. His numerous publications on Simmel and economic criminality include "L'Argent dans la culture moderne" (Presses de L'Université Laval, 2006). His recent book is "Offshore: Tax Havens and the Rule of Global Crime." In this new book, he makes a compeling paradigm-shifting new argument that views offshore tax havens as the platform for the criminal control of a large part of the global economy.

Mickey Fulp: Reactor Restarts, Uranium Price and Stock Picks

07:58
Mercenary Geologist Mickey Fulp has spoken previously with the Investing News Network about the gold price, the problems with major gold miners and the state of the TSX Venture Exchange. However, most recently he stopped by to share his thoughts on the uranium market. Fulp is bullish on uranium, and began by explaining that he believes the market hit bottom last summer when the price slipped to $28 per pound. "We've seen a very significant rise in prices. [It's now] floating around $35 to $37," he said. And while that "doesn't really get anybody excited," it's probably about a 30-percent increase from last summer. "Equities for the most part have followed suit," he added. He also touched on Japanese reactor restarts, commenting that Kyushu Electric Power Company's (TSE:9508) two reactors at the Sendai nuclear power plant might be back online by the end of the month, and if not, "by the end of this quarter." That prediction has already proven timely — since the interview was conducted, news has surfaced that Kyushu will restart one unit at the Sendai nuclear power plant on August 11. Of course, Japan is only part of the uranium demand story. Fulp emphasized that while reactor restarts there will be important in stoking uranium demand, other countries will also need more uranium moving forward. Those include big names like China, India and Russia, as well as less-discussed countries like Argentina, Turkey and Korea. "I think right now there's something on the order of 61 reactors under construction, and about one per month going into criticality and start ups, so that's a pretty bullish scenario," he commented. In closing, Fulp discussed how utilities contribute to uranium demand and outlined his predictions for the uranium price. He also mentioned a few of his favorite uranium stocks: producer Energy Fuels (TSX:EFR,NYSEMKT:UUUU), developer Uranium Resources (NASDAQ:URRE) and prospect generator CanAlaska Uranium (TSXV:CVV). He said he is a "long-term committed shareholder" of Energy Fuels, and in terms of Uranium Resources is excited about the company's impending acquisition of Anatolia Energy (ASX:AEK). That "will give them a very short-term path to production in Turkey," he said. CanAlaska is his Athabasca Basin pick, though Fulp is also interested in the company's joint venture just outside the basin with Northern Uranium (TSXV:UNO). Watch the video above for more of Fulp's thoughts and what he believes all three of his stock picks have in common. Mickey Fulp’s Disclosure: Mickey Fulp owns shares of Energy Fuels, Uranium Resources and CanAlaska Uranium. All three are paying sponsors of his website, MercenaryGeologist.com.
