05:10
IsoEnergy is a Canadian company spun out and backed by NexGen Energy in 2011. Their focus is on the exploration and discovery of Uranium in the Athabasca Basin in Northern Canada. Craig gives us some background on their targets and the drilling program they will undertake in 2019. Their focus for 2019 is very much on their ‘Larocque East’ property. IsoEnergy is very bullish on the Uranium market going forward, no surprise there, and Craig provides some background to that thinking, including supply side cuts coupled with the rising demand. Since interviewed Craig at Mines and Money IsoEnergy announced it had closed a bought deal private placement for pproximately $5.5 million and has commenced its Hurrican Zone drilling program at their Larocque East property. Uranium’s Perfect Storm Is Brewing

03:27
Comment period closes on US uranium investigation 02 October 2018 The US Department of Commerce (DOC) should not place any import limits or restrictions on uranium from Canadian producer Cameco, the company said in its submission to the DOC's ongoing Section 232 investigation. The comment period on the investigation has now closed. The DOC's goals include fulfilling Constitutional requirements and supporting economic activity (Image: DOC) The investigation was triggered by the filing in January by uranium mining companies Energy Fuels Inc and Ur-Energy of a petition - under Section 232 of the filed under the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 - requesting the DOC look into the effects of uranium imports on US national security. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross launched the investigation in July, after consultation with industry stakeholders, members of Congress, the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and other administration partners. A notice for public comments was issued on 25 July, with a deadline of 10 September which was subsequently extended to 25 September. Cameco filed its submission on the final day of the public comment period. "With uranium operations in both the United States and Canada, we felt it important to provide our perspective to the DOC for consideration," Cameco's president and CEO Tim Gitzel said. "As a publicly traded company, we experience the same pressures in the current tough market as the US producers who petitioned for this investigation. "However, as a strategic, friendly ally and the most dependable supplier of fuel for the American nuclear energy sector for many years, we contend that Cameco’s uranium does not impair US national security interests and should not be subject to any form of import restriction in the United States." The company said its does not support the specific quota proposed by the petitioners, which it said was "unrealistic" in its estimate of feasible US uranium production, would be difficult to implement and could ultimately increase US dependence on uranium from the countries of concern listed in the petition. It also said that while the petitioner's complaints focused on imports from state-owned enterprises in specific countries "acting against market principles and creating an uneven playing field", the proposed broad-based quota would apply to all uranium imports and non-US producers whether publicly traded or government-run. The company said a quota, if implemented, "should be applied solely to imports from state-owned enterprises from the countries named in the petition". The USA is Cameco's biggest customer by country, with about 30% of its total 2017 sales volume going to US utilities. "No producer in the world has done more than Cameco in an effort to revive the weak global uranium market," the company, which has made production cuts since 2015 that have reduced annual supply by 24 million pounds, said. "Unfortunately, these efforts have impacted our Canadian and US operations most significantly, as we have now suspended production at four of our North American uranium mines. When these facilities were in full production, Cameco was the largest uranium producer in both the US and Canada." Utilities against quotas The Ad Hoc Utilities Group (AHUG), an organisation which represents US nuclear power generators, also urged the DOC to avoid placing tariffs or quotas on uranium imports, Reuters reported on 26 September. "Imposing additional regulatory burdens on the already struggling nuclear energy industry will put 100,000 good paying domestic jobs and careers at risk and is inconsistent with President Trump’s and the Department of Energy’s policy pronouncements," AHUG spokesperson David Tamasi said. EnergyFuels and Ur-Energy's petition described how the loss of a viable US uranium mining industry would have a "significant detrimental impact" on the country's national, energy and economic security and its ability to sustain an independent nuclear fuel cycle. The petitioners called for a quota to limit imports of uranium into the USA, effectively reserving 25% of the US market for US uranium production, and also suggested that federal utilities and agencies be required to buy US uranium. These remedies could be expected to result in US utilities purchasing approximately 12 million pounds of uranium per year from US production, the companies said. US uranium operations produced a total of 1.2 million pounds in 2017. The DOC has up to 270 days from the July launch date to conduct its investigation. Researched and written by World Nuclear News

11 Most Massive Mines in the World

10:20
From the worlds largest gold mine found on the top of a mountain to the largest diamond mine in the world here are the most massive mines in the world! Subscribe to American EYE! 5.. Asbestos Mine, Canada Also known as the Jeffrey Mine, it’s located in Asbestos, Quebec and it was in operation until 2012. It’s a whopping 2 kilometers wide and 370 meters deep! Check out this thing on google maps and you can tell how completely massive this thing is! It’s the by far the largest asbestos mine in the world. For a long period of time, people would use this mineral to put into their walls and keep their homes from catching on fire! But recently there’s been a link with asbestos and a disease called mesothelioma, which is a lung condition. This is a toxic substance that people should avoid, so obviously this large mine went out of business. The lake at the bottom might look like an inviting blue, but you can bet your bottom dollar, it’s highly toxic! The small town that grew with the thriving asbestos industry feels like they’ve kind of lost their identity once the mine was forced to close, but people do still live there. 4. Mcarthur River Uranium Mine In case you were wondering which mine produces the most uranium in the world, that would be of course the Mcarthur River uranium mine in Saskatchewan Canada. This huge deposit was found in 1988 and finally a mining operation took place in 1997, when it began producing what’s known as Yellowcake. It’s not the kind of yellow cake you’d eat with your grandparents. This stuff has a horrific odor and basically what it is, is concentrated uranium powder which can then be used for powering nuclear reactors. We imagine this powdery substance is quite difficult to get ahold of. There aren’t a ton of photos of this place but, it does produce about 13 percent of the global uranium production across the globe. 3. Diavik Diamond Mine In case you thought it was Africa who had all the massive diamond mines, think again! The Diavik Diamond mine, found in the the northwest territories of Canada is one of the largest producers of diamonds in the Northern hemisphere and this place is pretty crazy! They annually produce 7 million carats of diamonds each year and you better believe it’s not easy to get here. The Diavik mine is found north of the arctic circle and it’s definitely cold! This photo here shows the subarctic landscapes that surround the diamond mine. You thought getting to work in the morning was tough for you? Imagine trying to get to work here! Just recently in 2015, this diamond produced what was known as the Diavik Foxfire 187.7 which is one of the largest rough gem quality diamonds ever produced. 2. Siberian Diamond Mine Also known as the Mirny Mine, The USSR began searching for ways to make to make themselves a more economical stable and independent union. In 1955 the Soviets discovered large diamond deposits at this site in the far away lands of Siberia and many people got to work very quickly in order to help bring wealth to the union. After about 20 years of operations, they finally decided that At one point this mine produced 10 million carats of diamonds a year and reaches a max depth of 524 meters or around 1700 feet making it the 2nd largest excavated hole in the world. The mine is so deep, airspace is closed over the hole due to helicopter crashes caused from the downward flow of air. The construction of this in the frigid conditions of Siberia must have been grueling and downright cruel. Sources state that the machinery used at this mine had to be covered at night or it would freeze Are the diamonds worth freezing to death?! It’s unoperational today but Some claim that there’s still a bunch of diamonds in this mine and the whole thing could be worth about 12 Billion dollars. It’s possible that controlling this diamond is mine is crucial to controlling the price of diamonds across the world. Bingham Copper Mine The bingham copper mine located near Salt Lake City Utah is home to the biggest pit in the world and it’s been in operation since 1903. It’s about 2.5 miles wide and if it were a stadium, it would be able to fit an estimated 9.5 million people. It keeps getting bigger and bigger too! Diligent workers can move about 250,000 tons of rock each day and it’s even become a tourist attraction in recent years before a massive landslide took place. Some claim that this was the biggest non volcanic landslide to take place in North American modern history. This photo we see here shows you the aftermath of this massive landslide and Bingham Copper mine and it makes you wonder how safe some of the conditions at these mines truly are. The landslides were so massive, that they actually triggered a few small earthquakes! Experts estimated that 165 tons of earth slide down from the top of the mine all the way to the bottom.

Uranium Will Be Best Performing Metal In 2019 – Expert

06:02
Uranium is likely to outperform other metals in 2019, said Lobo Tiggre of Independent Speculator, formerly known as Louis James at Casey Research. “What I love most about uranium is that it doesn’t matter what the global economy does,” Tiggre told Kitco News. On gold and precious metals, Tiggre said that the trade wars will provide “major weight on commodities” next year. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. It’s “Buy Time” For Gold Mining Stocks – Fund Manager

05:24
According to the “mining clock,” a concept used to measure commodity cycles, we are now in the first third of a bull cycle, said Bob Thompson, Senior Vice President & Portfolio Manager of Raymond James. “The mining clock is just a simple way to see what’s happening in the market, reverse engineer that, and then tells you where we are in the cycle – are we near the end of the cycle or the beginning of the cycle, and it tells you if we’re in a bull market or a bear market,” Thompson told Kitco News on the sidelines of the PDAC 2019. According to Thompson, mining companies go through natural cycles from becoming overleveraged near the end of a bull run to becoming cash-flow positive, which is where we currently are, and the mining clock indicates that now is a good time to buy. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Mickey Fulp: Reactor Restarts, Uranium Price and Stock Picks

07:58
Mercenary Geologist Mickey Fulp has spoken previously with the Investing News Network about the gold price, the problems with major gold miners and the state of the TSX Venture Exchange. However, most recently he stopped by to share his thoughts on the uranium market. Fulp is bullish on uranium, and began by explaining that he believes the market hit bottom last summer when the price slipped to $28 per pound. "We've seen a very significant rise in prices. [It's now] floating around $35 to $37," he said. And while that "doesn't really get anybody excited," it's probably about a 30-percent increase from last summer. "Equities for the most part have followed suit," he added. He also touched on Japanese reactor restarts, commenting that Kyushu Electric Power Company's (TSE:9508) two reactors at the Sendai nuclear power plant might be back online by the end of the month, and if not, "by the end of this quarter." That prediction has already proven timely — since the interview was conducted, news has surfaced that Kyushu will restart one unit at the Sendai nuclear power plant on August 11. Of course, Japan is only part of the uranium demand story. Fulp emphasized that while reactor restarts there will be important in stoking uranium demand, other countries will also need more uranium moving forward. Those include big names like China, India and Russia, as well as less-discussed countries like Argentina, Turkey and Korea. "I think right now there's something on the order of 61 reactors under construction, and about one per month going into criticality and start ups, so that's a pretty bullish scenario," he commented. In closing, Fulp discussed how utilities contribute to uranium demand and outlined his predictions for the uranium price. He also mentioned a few of his favorite uranium stocks: producer Energy Fuels (TSX:EFR,NYSEMKT:UUUU), developer Uranium Resources (NASDAQ:URRE) and prospect generator CanAlaska Uranium (TSXV:CVV). He said he is a "long-term committed shareholder" of Energy Fuels, and in terms of Uranium Resources is excited about the company's impending acquisition of Anatolia Energy (ASX:AEK). That "will give them a very short-term path to production in Turkey," he said. CanAlaska is his Athabasca Basin pick, though Fulp is also interested in the company's joint venture just outside the basin with Northern Uranium (TSXV:UNO). Watch the video above for more of Fulp's thoughts and what he believes all three of his stock picks have in common. Mickey Fulp’s Disclosure: Mickey Fulp owns shares of Energy Fuels, Uranium Resources and CanAlaska Uranium. All three are paying sponsors of his website, MercenaryGeologist.com.

Dilution Among U.S. based Uranium Miners- A Comparison

12:22
The recent UEC offering ruffled some feathers so I went back and compared UEC to UUUU and URG and looked at the historical dilution tendencies. UEC does not currently produce any Uranium. UUUU and URG do. That should be noted for this comparison Dilution is not always just to pay the bills. Many times it is to purchase resources or other assets. Also these numbers are not 100% up to date. Please keep this in mind. I own a small position in UUUU but this video was not meant to promote any company or bash another. Simply a comparison. Mining Battles: Uranium, Coal, and Gold

27:19
Find more Earth Focus content at https://www.linktv.org/earthfocus (Earth Focus: Episode 67) An impoverished former mining community in Colorado hopes that a proposed uranium mill will bring jobs and prosperity until environmentalists step in to try to stop it. Who gets to decide? Filmmaker Suzan Beraza documents the debate in her new film Uranium Drive-In. Rhinos are killed for their horn. But now in South Africa they face a new threat -- coal. Plans for an open cast coal mine on the border of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, home to the largest population in the world of the once endangered white rhino, may bring economic development. However, these plans will also worsen air and water quality and increase poaching and crime. Jeff Barbee reports from South Africa. The indigenous people in Ecuador's Kimsakocha wetlands rely on the land's water for their livelihood -- agriculture and livestock production. But there is gold under the water and foreign mining companies are out to get it. The local people mount a fierce opposition. "Resistance will not end, we will not give up even if we are in prison," says local community leader Carlos Perez. Constantino de Miguel reports from Ecuador.

John Hathaway: Things Look Very Bullish For Gold Mining Stocks

45:49
Full description and comments at: https://www.peakprosperity.com/podcast/114613/john-hathaway-things-look-very-bullish-gold-mining-stocks Since gold topped out in 2011, the precious metals mining sector has been where investor capital goes to die. Mining stocks have performed miserably over the past seven years, missing out completely on the central bank-created liquidity-fest that has raised nearly every other equity sector to record highs. But the long winter of abuse is over, claims highly-respected mining analyst John Hathaway, co-manager of the Toqueville Gold Fund. To John's veteran eye, the conditions in this beleaguered industry have improved substantially. Mining supply is tightening while demand is rising, and the surviving companies have achieved positive cash flows at today's depressed prices. Claiming that we are now past "peak gold", Hathaway expects gold prices to move higher vigorously, propelling the shares of mining companies multiples higher from where they are today.

It portrays how over the last 150 years mining has made Australia rich, yet created an unending struggle over who shares in the wealth. It reveals how mining helped forge democracy yet has repeatedly plotted to influence politics and even overthrow democratically elected leaders. Whilst mining has also been deeply damaging to Aboriginal society, ironically in the 21st century, it may be aboriginal people's best hope of economic self-determination.

Why Russia Wants to Control the World’s Uranium Supply

03:13
Avid news watchers will most likely have heard of the Uranium One deal. This deal has come under scrutiny. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently authorized the Justice Department to investigate allegations made concerning the Clinton Foundation's role in this deal. These allegations regard former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's role in approving the sale of American uranium reserves to a Russian energy company. The Canadian-based company Uranium One controls roughly 20 percent of U.S. uranium production capacity. Russia's nuclear energy agency purchased Uranium One in stages between 2009 and 2013. Since uranium is vital to national security, the U.S. government had to approve this purchase. The State Department and eight other government agencies did this in 2010. Why is it important? Debate concerning the legality of this deal has been highly politicized in the United States. But what matters most is that Russia's state-run nuclear agency bought out a company that controlled large amounts of uranium in Canada, the United States and Kazakhstan. Even though Russia isn't currently allowed to legally export uranium mined in the United States, the Uranium One deal gave Vladimir Putin's Russia coveted uranium mines in Kazakhstan. Iran is now seeking to buy uranium ore from Kazakhstan and expects Russia's nuclear energy agency will help them produce nuclear fuel. Russia has been a big support of Iran's nuclear program in the past. The U.S. government could have stopped Russia from gaining control of Uranium One's Kazakhstani mines. But the Obama administration decided not to. What does the future hold? That fact that the United States trusted Russia as a partner in the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal is one of the greatest scandals in history. Now Russia controls a significant portion of the planet's uranium reserves. Russia's goal is to grab power across Eurasian. It doesn't mind throwing a few more kilograms of uranium at Iran or North Korea if it will distract the United States for a few months. Public trust in government institutions is plummeting because of scandals like this. There is an unseen reason why troubles are intensifying as never before. To fully understand this cause, request editor-in-chief Gerald Flurry's book, America Under Attack.

"A Slow Genocide of the People": Uranium Mining Leaves Toxic Nuclear Legacy on Indigenous Land

17:31
http://www.democracynow.org - The iconic Grand Canyon is the site of a battle over toxic uranium mining. Last year, a company called Energy Fuels Resources was given federal approval to reopen a mine six miles from the Grand Canyon's popular South Rim entrance. A coalition of Native and environmental groups have protested the decision, saying uranium mining could strain scarce water sources and pose serious health effects. Diné (Navajo) tribal lands are littered with abandoned uranium mines. From 1944 to 1986, 3.9 million tons of uranium ore were chiseled and blasted from the mountains and plains of the region. More than 1,000 mines have closed, but the mining companies never properly disposed of their radioactive waste piles, leading to a spike in cancer rates and other health ailments. Broadcasting from Flagstaff, Arizona, we speak with Taylor McKinnon, director of energy with Grand Canyon Trust, and Klee Benally, a Diné (Navajo) activist and musician. "It's really a slow genocide of the people, not just indigenous people of this region, but it's estimated that there are over 10 million people who are residing within 50 miles of abandoned uranium mines," Benally says. Benally also describes the struggle to preserve the San Francisco Peaks, an area considered sacred by 13 Native tribes, where the Snowbowl ski resort is using treated sewage water to make snow. The potential for uranium mining through 2019 and beyond with Goviex Uranium

04:17
We caught up with Daniel Major, CEO of Goviex Uranium, an Africa-focused uranium mining company. They have projects in Niger, Zambia and Mali. With Goviex seeing an improving Uranium price, and permits in place for two of those projects, it sounds like 2019 will be very busy for Goviex. Daniel explained why Goviex is 100% focussed on Africa for their Uranium. He believes the speed at which projects can be set up is critical. Also, the mining culture in the countries in which they operate gives them a stable background to help take the company forward, after all, Uranium has been mined in many of these areas for over fifty years. What about uranium prices in the future? Daniel gives us his argument for why he’s bullish on Uranium prices – citing nuclear demand back to where it was pre-Fukushima, a faster rate of new reactor builds and a primary production deficit of Uranium at the moment.

We can't operate our current lifestyles without energy, cheap energy, but we can operate without precious metals. Mining, plays a significant role in the cost of both precious metals and energy. The mining industry has been suffering over the past several years, pretty close to a decade, from a lack of capital. Capital inflows have been depleted and when there is a smaller pool of investment dollars something has to be sidelined. Exploration, research and development have been the victim and this is now creating issues with the major mining companies like Barrick. It is also creating problems within other areas of the resource sector as well. Alain Deneault - Canadian Mining Companies and The Toronto Stock Exchange

Canadian Author Alain Deneault discusses the little-known fact about Canadian mining companies. Alain Deneault is a sociologist at the University of Quebec in Montreal. He is co-author of "Black Canada: Pillage, Corruption, and Criminality in Africa," a book that details well-sourced human rights abuses by the multinational resource companies Barrick Gold and Banro Corporation. The companies have responded with $11 million in lawsuits, aimed at bankrupting their critics with court fees. and the publisher for a total of $11 million. Deneault's main areas of research are George Simmel's economic work and the phenomenon of economic criminality in the context of globalization. His numerous publications on Simmel and economic criminality include "L'Argent dans la culture moderne" (Presses de L'Université Laval, 2006). His recent book is "Offshore: Tax Havens and the Rule of Global Crime." In this new book, he makes a compeling paradigm-shifting new argument that views offshore tax havens as the platform for the criminal control of a large part of the global economy.

The New Conquistadors: Canadian Mining Companies Battle for Panama's Natural Resources

01:05
Learn more: http://pulitzercenter.org/projects/panama-canada-gold-copper-mining-protests-environmental-destruction "The New Conquistadors," a documentary produced through a collaboration between the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the CBC News, explores the battle between the Canadian companies and local communities in Panama. As Canadian mining companies seek to expand their presence in Central America, some Panama's indigenous peoples and peasant farmers worry that the mining could lead to deforestation, polluted water supply and the displacement of local communities—including the Ngobe people, Panama's largest indigenous group. The plan to unearth billions of dollars worth of precious metals is a boon for these Panamanian communities, according to the mining companies; they bring jobs and economic development to the developing countries. But for the peasant farmers and indigenous peoples, the rewards aren't worth sacrificing the environment. "The New Conquistadors" will air on CBC on June 18, 2012. This report is part of Pulitzer Center-sponsored project "Panama: The Canadian Conquistadors" (http://bit.ly/Kj4Qnm).
