Your supply lines are all safe unless you happen upon one of them while in route to a settlement. Best avoid them while in route
CMDRFandragon (9 days ago)
My central hub is and always is Sanctuary. Its where I build my most elaborate base and store everything major.
ChickenCatch (30 days ago)
on my previous survival playthrough i used The Castle as my ''Capital'' but on this run im using Egret Tours Marina. since its connected to the water. so boats can come in and out with stuff and whatnot.
Nathan Nealon (1 month ago)
A little confused, new to the game. So as long as all settlements are connected it doesn't matter what network you use, you can put junk in any settlement and it will show up in the others??
Josué Jiménez (1 month ago)
If are in the same net you can take all resources.
Ricashbringer (1 month ago)
I use hubs. The Drive In, County Crossing and Jamaica Plains are my main hubs. I consider roads and threats. I avoid sending routes thru Sauges Iron Works and thru the center of Boston packed with mutants, raiders, and gunners.
Paper Axes (1 month ago)
Oxhorn, you're still the best. Thanks for this vid - setting up my first supply lines next time I play!
Noahthehyperpotato BoF (1 month ago)
I purposely send provisioned through dangerous areas and give them good guns and armor to help in my battles
jeremy draper (1 month ago)
I think I'll just do mechanist lair hub thing
Seth Jaxon (1 month ago)
I don't use supply lines at all..... I manage each settlement individually
Christopher Conard (2 months ago)
I usually start out trying the constellation style. I end up with something that looks like a spider web. If the spider was completely insane, and tried to self medicate with LSD.
bolobolo bolo (2 months ago)
I do outer connection and star connection centered at bunker hill,

AKA the most useful function ever created. The castle is your main settlement, but you have all these settlements that seriously need resources to even build a weak sentry? JUST SEND A PROVISIONER THERE AND BAM! That poor settlement now has instantly about 1000 steel and can now build about 355 sentries! Very useful mechanism. This is why charisma is op xd

Does anyone know why automaton dlc on 0c doesnt work I mean just says coming soon
Michael Mathers (3 months ago)
the only way i've ever done supply lines is sanctuary -> first place i save. first place i save -> 2nd place i save. 2nd place i save ->3rd place I save. and so on they all share inventories, right?
Andre Prosper (3 months ago)
Z-Outpost, Jamaica Plain, Mechanist's Lair, Red Rocket, hangman's alley, Grey garden, and Coastal Cottage, (and Boston airport) I have these as my hubs, all robots, no beacons. Each of these (except Greygarden) is is pain to build on. Everywhere I go (almost) I see my robots fighting, I gain XP just for walking around, I seldom get surprised by random fights as my bots find them for me every time I enter a cell. Bots are not affected by radiation so even spectacle island does not present a problem. Most of these, including Grey Garden, you gotta build upwards, easier to just surround them with guns, no beds, no food, no water, no power, and 50% happiness always. Even without guns, the robots are an overwhelming forces for everything that attacks these settlements, and for all the settlements, they almost always have 3 to 6 robot visiting for supply run. 30 settlements (not including far harbor and/or Nuka World settlements) , with 9 Hubs, Warwick homestead is also a hub except it has the few people that were already there, so did not need to build it up. Far harbor, and Nuka, I have 10 bots per settlement on supply line, so they are each hitting 7 different settlements in the main map and connecting to the ones around them but not connecting far harbor to Nuka world. Additionally, my bots are type coded and color coded. Names set for hub and destination, only 1 type of bot per hub, so if one has sentry legs, then all from that hub do. Just a note, avoid should mounted grenades, and other area affect weapons on suppliers as they are often pissing off the brotherhood. Edit, just a note, I am not running any mods, so my settlement caps remain, all 20s and a 30. plus by not building on those hub settlements, I literally saved hours of play time, and of course I do not connect hubs to hubs and have 1 bot in every settlement that is being missed by a hub to make up for the 21st normal settlement as I can only send 20 from each hub. This means that every settlement (not including Nuka and far harbor) has at least 10 supply lines going to it, and most with 1 coming from it.
NorthAmerican Balls (3 months ago)
i kind of do the community hub, i go from sanctuary to red rocket, and red rocket goes to abernathy, tempines bluff, and starlight drive in, and it spreads out like a spider web, but then i move all of my equipment (like weapons and armor) to the castle to arm minutemen which i will send to settlements who need it, and the same applies for the red rocket gas station near sanctuary. I set up my settlements in military fashion, almost like the gunners, and my supply lines follow suit in fashion
Sundaram Maurya (4 months ago)
Can you showcase how your settlements defend themselves in case of a massive raider attack?
Demoulius (4 months ago)
Personally I use a mix of hubs and I look at the roads to connect settlements in the most safe and logical manner. In the places where alot of dangerous enemies are located I try to have several 'patrol' at the same time so they can support eachother. All my provisioners are packed with heavy combat armor and wear weapons like gauss rifles to keep themselves safe. Ive had a provisioner die early on in the game because he had his basic gear and clothes still on and he was near me when a deathclaw spawned nearby and attacked him :(
Demoulius (4 months ago)
Wait, you can actually use robots as provisioners? D:
go away (4 months ago)
Bruh I sent my provisioner from Sanctuary to Hangman's alley ffs
Cherubim666999 (4 months ago)
mech lair is all damned grey with random stairs n such..gfx is all screwed ..i cant use it
Atomic Sentinel (4 months ago)
How did you make the maps
Atomic Sentinel (4 months ago)
whenever i use it i cant get the scrap and stuff
Andrew Childs (5 months ago)
one practicality of the loop system is that in all honesty, the most dangerous places to be would be #1 quincy, #2 down town boston, and #3 Cit (institute) so people would naturally avoid those danger zones for the sake of reliability and survival so that seems a bir realistic
John Casler (5 months ago)
I would use starlight drive in as the central hub and build a huge trading hub there
Exaotic (5 months ago)
I'm doing mine like 1 and 2. There will be 4 "headquarters", where all of the neighboring settlements will go to, and the 4 headquarters will go to the capital of the Minutemen. So it has to be a central spot, so sadly not Sanctuary Hills. Maybe I could find a way to make Sanctuary a headquarters, but it doesnt make much sense geographically.
Hairysteed (5 months ago)
I usually do the constellation simply because it's realistic. I also prefer safer routes. That's why Greentop Nursery is supplied via Outpost Zimonja instead of Taffington Boathouse because Malden is infested with enemies. I also don't run a line between Finch Farm and The Slog to keep the provisioners from running into the forged.
Enalaps Gaming (5 months ago)
I didn't know Jack Black made youtube videos
Nick Fleming (5 months ago)
I'm seeing with mine that only directly connected settlements share food/water with eachother but caps are shared by all
0ptimus1984 (6 months ago)
2:24 drive in is huge place so more suited for being the hob 1 point where all of them connect to punker hill is smaller but that's second best choice cause its the caravans hub, traders hub
Alex Price (6 months ago)
How do you make supply lines
Keiko Paton (6 months ago)
Another settlement needs your help
Robert Decareau (6 months ago)
All settlements will share all scrap. *communism theme plays*
Maywither Dragon (6 months ago)
I prefer to never see my provisioners, since seeing them increases their risk of dying from a stray explosion.
Sincius Quilnaf (7 months ago)
you can use a strategy like that star he mention to make them more like mercs to clear the roads, SO SPREAD THEM AROUND
Fabian Bernd Krause (7 months ago)
Does it efect the happynes of the settlements?
Master Kenobi (7 months ago)
Does supply lines effect workstations and stuff like that?
Riolu The Hunter (7 months ago)
Does connecting all the settlements together make all resources shareable across all of them? I have yet to try this...
Lily Flower (7 months ago)
But does it even affect the game? Also, how do you "reset" a supply line? Is there a way go easily cancel all of them? They are so hard to find once set.
Autumn Swift (7 months ago)
Wait, this is a thing? I manually bring things I need to settlements. 90% of my supplies are at Saturary Hills. I just recently had 4 Minutemen randomly arrive at Santuary Hills, but didn't know why. I don't even think I told those Minutemen to do that either.
westbcoast (7 months ago)
lol yes it is .. omg that is painful .. definitely hook them up, most settlers can be assigned to a supply line .. it's going to make your life much easier
Venomgrievous 8 (7 months ago)
I also have red rocket as a trading post that does 50% logistics to sanctuary city and for people to stop at on way to sanctuary and a place for the slums who are unable to pay 300 caps for a sanctuary entry card
Venomgrievous 8 (7 months ago)
Pretty much they slide their card through the reader then the vault door opens
Venomgrievous 8 (7 months ago)
I strongly agree with the mechanists lair Star idea but it’s more of a caravan company than a faction run warehouse
Maniacal Offroad (7 months ago)
I wish I could at least patch roofs to make them somewhat water tight. I play console atm and I hate how when it rains everything inside, even in water tight rooms, appears soaking wet.
westbcoast (7 months ago)
I know that is stupid ... Bethesda got lazy on some really important small details.
Matthew Cramer (7 months ago)
I just connect one supply line from Sanctuary to Red Rocket. I make sure each settlement has what they need to be happy and when I click supply lines I can see my settlements without a bunch of lines.
CD Smith (7 months ago)
In my first play-through I had no idea what I was doing with the supply line thing. I set several settlers from each settlement as Provisioners, like 3 to 5 per settlement, and sent them out to randomly-chosen other settlements. Towards the end of my game my supply line map looked like a massive spider web, not to mention the crowds of provisioners traversing every corner of the Commonwealth. lol. You'd hear gunfire everywhere, every time you fast-traveled somewhere, go towards it and you'd find like 10 provisioners utterly destroying a gang of raiders, stupidmutants, gunners, etc. I heavily armed up all my provisioners in that play-through as well, so the wasteland was never so safe. I'm trying a slightly more .... efficient... way of doing supply lines in this my 2nd run at the game. This video is helping with that, so thank you.
The Fantasy Brand (7 months ago)
Constellation for the W.
Siggy (7 months ago)
Or just be fucking crazy and link every settlement to every settlement
westbcoast (7 months ago)
That would be cool, I love seeing my provisioners all over the place .. also helps when travelling as they join in with the fight especially on survival ..
Robert Inman (7 months ago)
I like to be completely unreasonable and set supplies from all settlements to all settlements, creating a spider web.
Made a supply line between Sactuary and The Caste and assigned Strong to it. ATLEAST NOW HE CAN'T FUCKING DISLIKE EVERYTHING I DO!

stewdad11 (7 months ago)
When you put your mouse over sanctuary it said you had 74 settlers. How did you get that many people there? Mine has stopped at 17 and won't let me go any higher?
Forster Dave 43 (7 months ago)
Hey, love your videos, it makes me want to play again....I'm looking for new way to play fallout 4. This video has me questioning? Could you do a play though without doing any of the main quests, and just do a settlement play through... So, could you do a play thought with dlc without the minute man, the railway, ect..is it possible??????????????
westbcoast (8 months ago)
Loved this video Oxhorn, what an eye opener. I love the idea of having all the provisioners converging at the same location. I also love my Brahmin and the Provisioner Brahmin, they the true hero's of the commonwealth, I am going to see how they handle the lair ..I saw one running around and running up the ramp and fitting thru the doorways, it was hilarious and super cute .. love it ..
Nathan L (8 months ago)
Is it possible to lose a settlement? If so wouldn't the safest bet be to set each settlement to two separate settlements in case a settlement ever went down you would not put any other settlement outside of the chain
westbcoast (8 months ago)
Yes your provisioners can die. What I have read, if you doing bots, make the bot your companion first and then they can't be killed supposedly. What I did is make them my companion, then immediately make my previous companion my companion again. Not sure it works. Worst case is you create another bot provisioner, you don't have to over think it.
Jon Moriconi (8 months ago)
Hey, so is it possible to change the "central point" on the star
westbcoast (8 months ago)
Of course, you can make any settlement your primary hub
Chloe pyecroft (8 months ago)
after completing the main missions I've been trying to build settlements using simple mods such as scrap everything and no build etc but I can't get them to look aesthetically pleasing and I think an in depth video on how to make them look liked they're apart of the commonwealth would be really helpful :)
Spunky_Bruiser (8 months ago)
I mostly have been playing survival mode and while my first play through had the drive in as my central hub, at some point I realized at times it helped having an extra gun on the road (provisioner) for random encounters or events. So I started connecting the settlements all over the place and what would take up the most ground and through the most dangerous territories.

Imagine making a 14 minute video on a topic you can do in under a minute.
westbcoast (7 months ago)
oh be quiet, no one cares what you have to say .. I was responding to Autumn's comment ..
Mjkhh _ (7 months ago)
westbcoast Are you high? I own the game. I just criticized how he made a 1 minute long video (at most) and stretched it out to 14 minutes.
westbcoast (7 months ago)
If you haven't figured it out, it is well worth playing, so much to do and so much fun. I guess people either love it or hate it, I never played FO3, and I tried going back to it but the graphics are too dated for me .. there are lots of game play video's, just watch them or ask questions as well as there is a active reddit fo4 sub.
Mjkhh _ (7 months ago)
Autumn Swift Ok?
Autumn Swift (7 months ago)
I didn't know this was a thing. I've learned the stuff I know either from videos, or from stuff I did on accident. Fallout is one of the games I'm completely clueless at. I originally got Fallout 4 on Christmas 2016, but quickly stopped playing because I had no idea how to get out of Vault 111 at the beginning. Took me 1.5 years to play again, and still as cluessles as I was then. For a good week, I was running around not knowing what the point of the game was. I played Fallout 3 before, but never understood that game either. I forgot about running into the Swan and the Minutemen at the beginning because of all the running around I was doing.

how to start traidding with Diamond City ? Please Ox let us know pal .
Diet Coke _ (8 months ago)
theres a glitch on xbox where if you leave a settlement for a while, it says youre lacking in food, water or defence so I never side with the minutemen lol
WisdomThumbs (8 months ago)
It takes 20 in-game minutes, on average, for my 10 Agility character to reach Abernathy Farm from Sunshine Tidings. That empties my stamina at least twice in runner's gear. And btw, Mrs. Finch and many random settlers have a chance to talk to each other about the Abernathy daughter who died.
Hammerin' Hank (8 months ago)
This is a brilliant idea by Oxhorn. For each settlement build a bot, make it's home Mech Lair, and assign routes. It's efficient, plus since all the mechs "home" is the Mech Lair then your other settlements don't suffer a "minus" to morale (robots have 50 morale, and drag down morale in settlements).
flickinggamer (8 months ago)
I hate the whole rebuilding the wasteland activities.  So the whole population has been sitting around waiting for me to show up and rebuild Boston?  I would immediately leave.  It has been several hundred years since the war.  Get off your butts people and do something for yourself.
Ace The MC (9 months ago)
All my supply lines are connected to sanctuary
Johnathan (9 months ago)
Well if you connect EVERY settlement to EVERY other settlement with big strong sentry bots, you'd have a Network of friendly tank that can help you out in combat if you meet along the road
Frbrbr Grblgrr (9 months ago)
Oh this is nice, never knew you did this. YouTube should do something where it shows subscribers an older video from someone they subscribed to. Maybe it's own section like a "maybe you missed". The one tab kinda does that but not very well. Seems to flood it with 2 channels and then lots I don't like and am not subscribed to.

The socond one is called hub and spoke, using in many networking architectures.
Phillippe Nash (9 months ago)
I used to link my settlements to one spot until I realized a bunch of provisioners were clogging up pathways to where it would get chaotic during a fight.
Sixball (9 months ago)
I had fun daisy-chaining them together one to the other in survival mode. No need to run back to sanctuary hills every time you get loaded down
If your at a low level it is probably a good idea to avoid down town Boston because some people haven't cleared it out
Edwin Cheesecake (9 months ago)
Make one settlement and make it the main centre and build a warehouse, then have two small distribution centres elsewhere and place crates all over the place to RP that they are hubs.
Edwin Cheesecake (9 months ago)
Isn't there a postal uniform in the game? Give it to all provisioners except the one between manufacturing and main centre, he gets a mechanic uniform, and between main and distribution hubs the two provisioners get road leathers with a funny hat
Edwin Cheesecake (9 months ago)
Even better, have one settlement for manufacturing and only link it directly to the main centre, because why would you supply manufacturing from tiny villages rather than a warehouse?
Troy Staunton (9 months ago)
I used spectacle island as my wasteland capital, I pimped that bitch made it an oppressively defended fort and every single settlement is supplied by it. I also themed most of the settlements.
Hopper. (9 months ago)
The way you go down in tone on some sentences is why I cannot watch your content.

I love the constilation one I use it in all my play throughs and challenge runs combined with a mod that gives me a bunch of resource at every settlement I can usually build non stop
Emilio Hernandez (10 months ago)
I can think of one practical Advantage for the loop: retrieval of a companion whom you've assigned as a provisioner. For example if you assign Cait to a supply line, but you forget where you sent her. The loop configuration greatly narrows down the number of possibilities, making it easier to find her via trial and error if necessary. The hub config would be good for this purpose too. Keeping track of former followers can be a pain. I always felt like Bethesda completely overlooked this small but very important detail.
Alex Varble (10 months ago)
I place items on my provisioners and take them back off once they reach my home settlement. I have lost a few loads tho, not sure why? But it really helps when your walking home over weight and your companion is over weight.
kinerry (10 months ago)
Wait, supply lines aren't automatic?!
Serendipity DoctorXqY (10 months ago)
