170 ratings | 6932 views
Nomad is out with their second wireless charger, designed to go from home, to on the road. It can charge your iPhone at up to 7.5W, has an anodized aluminum base for when you want to prop it up into a stand, and a top wrapped in beautiful Horween leather. Wtf u doin nomad? You make great products but this terrible
AppleInsider (7 months ago)
To be fair, this is one of their first wireless chargers. They iterated on a lot of their other products fast. Like the original Apple Watch pod? V2 was way better. I hope we see something like that here.

Proprietary cable to plug in? What were they thinking?
AppleInsider (7 months ago)
Not necessarily proprietary I guess, but not a standard USB. You can easily find replacement cables online, just not in every gas station or retail store.

This is actually Inductive charging, NOT wireless. The stand itself needs to be plugged into a power source in order to generate the inductive field. This not wireless at all and at 7.5 watt, this will charge the phone much slower compared to the 12.4 watt charger that Apple provides with the iPad, which can also be used to charge the iPhone. Also, while on the stand, you won't be able to use your device. Usage will cause the charging to slow down, as the device draws more than what the mat can provide. As far as I'm concerned, I'd much rather plug my phone into my charger and still use my device.

Jon Fukumoto that’s cool, then you don’t buy it. Meanwhile we are many who are enjoying inductive charging :)

Wow nice

The cable ruins this in every way for me I’m already irked about carrying two different types of cables not adding another for only one device

That offset charging would trigger my OCD. 😬😬😬
AppleInsider (7 months ago)
Haha. Use it as a stand maybe? I don’t notice it anymore but certainly one of the bothersome aspects.
