Logitech MX Master In-Depth Review | Great Mouse, Not For Gamers

494 ratings | 59815 views
In this video I do an in-depth review of the Logitech MX Master. This mouse has received a lot of high praises which motivated me to get this for myself. I have to say this is one of the best mice I used, just not for gaming. It also can feel uncomfortable depending on how you hold it but a lot of people find this to be the most comfortable mouse of all. I hope you guys enjoy the review! ********************** ▼Extra Info & Links▼ ********************** ☆☆☆My Gaming Mouse Buying Guide☆☆☆ ➤Link - http://recklessyuki.com/mouse-database/ ☆☆☆My PC and Peripherals☆☆☆ ➤Link - http://www.logicalincrements.com/g/recklessyuki/ ✪✪✪Help support my channel while shopping at Amazon✪✪✪ ➤Amazon US - http://www.amazon.com/?tag=reckyuki-20 ➤Amazon UK - http://www.amazon.co.uk/?tag=reckyuki-21 ➤Amazon Canada - http://www.amazon.ca/?tag=reckyuki0d-20 ☆☆☆Keep in touch and up to date with the following☆☆☆ ➤My Website - http://recklessyuki.com/ ➤YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/recklessyuki ➤Twitch - http://www.twitch.tv/recklessyuki ➤Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/RecklessYuki ➤Twitter - https://twitter.com/Reckless_Yuki ➤Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/RecklessYuki/ ➤Tumblr - https://www.tumblr.com/blog/recklessyuki ➤Google+ - https://plus.google.com/+RecklessYukihatesthisurl

The thumb scroll wheel doesn't work
TheLifeStalker (1 year ago)
this is probably the best review of this mouse, thanks!
Toby Cunliffe (1 year ago)
Can you get it left handed
RedOrb (1 year ago)
I don't game anymore, haven't for weeks, I've only edited videos, so this mouse should be perfect for AE, Maya, FCPX, DaVinci, and Photoshop. My friend let me try this out. It's legit the best mouse I've ever held.
JuniorDesigns (1 year ago)
For anyone who is thinking about buying this, do not buy if you are looking to use the Bluetooth on any MacBook Pro before 2012, it will not work. Also, I am a skinnier guy with long fingers, and I find the mouse to be EXTREMELY comfortable. Hope I could help!
AsgarorHammer (1 year ago)
You don't need to curl your thumb to push teh buttons, I use the joint that is in position already if the tip of your thumb is on the wheel.
Andrea Aleardi (1 year ago)
It seemes to me that side buttons are there for the SIDE of your thumb. You have to push up or down with the side of your thumb, not trying to reach them with your fingertip.
denysost (1 year ago)
whats the mouse on 14:06? thx
Ronald Adrian (1 year ago)
I just bought it and i feel like it is the best out there for me , thanks man for the video, I really learned all i needed to know out of your video
Username (1 year ago)
Thinking about buying this and use gestures for vertical and horizontal zoom in Logic's arrangement. Can they be used as such, mening that they work as axises, or do they only work in discrete steps, simply resembling key commands? Thanks!
kevin newkirk (11 months ago)
I bought this mouse to use exclusively with mastercam. Everything about this mouse is customisable. You can remap buttons and functions for each application your using. I would have bought this mouse if it were 200 dollars. Simply the best mouse out there hands down. Hope this helps cheers

MX revolution had an option that main scroll could also be used as a 2 additional left and right click
Daumex (1 year ago)
I play competitive FPS with it without any issues, it's perfectly fine for gaming...
Shadow Heart (1 year ago)
Does anybody know if this has the same lagging/jittering issues that the MX Revolution has?
idan124 (1 year ago)
your looks like a broom
Jarmo Hiltunen (1 year ago)
Just search "Mx master scroll wheel problem" and you find that many owners have problems with a scroll wheel. So did I.
616Haggard (1 year ago)
You tried the mouse on a curved glass cup... Did you never notice the glass window right behind you? You know, the one right next to your PC..?
Reckless Yūki (1 year ago)
Yeah, I didn't think of it when I made the video, but after I did test it on a window and it works well.
Clarence Ho (1 year ago)
no glass surface... no windows?
Michael Harder (1 year ago)
Very well done review. How you explained how it would fit in you hand giving different grips is exactly what I wanted to know. Only review that had this. I will be checking out your other vids as your style in this was AWESOME!

im watching this and youre talking about palm grip and im looking at my hand on my current mouse and im like I DONT USE MY PALM AT ALL my palm isnt even on the mouse its on my desk o - o

Great mouse. I have one small issue. Is there any way that I can store the use receiver on this mouse like some of other Logitech wireless mouses. I am afraid that I will lost this tiny usb receiver if it cannot be store on the mouse itself.

please shave your face
Phantom Warrior (6 months ago)
Paolo Yatar agreed if you worked at my office, and looked like that, you wouldn't work very long. generally speaking, the requirement is for beard to be maintained with clean lines or clean shave. but a little stubble works time to time.
Keith Peng (2 years ago)
Does it have onboard memory? As my office pc doesn't let me install any kind of software so I won't be able to use the Logitech Options and I'm buying it for spreadsheets work, the sidescroll is gonna be handy.
Dig intheCrates (2 years ago)
Stop saying 'anyways', it's bad English son.

you had no glass to test it on?  no windows?
Manzanita205 (2 years ago)
legit. Thanks for the review! (and reply) I know it's easier to critique than create, so don't mind me too much. haha
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
Yeah, I didn't think of it when I made the video, but after I did test it on a window and it works well.

VaultGames (2 years ago)
+Osumo Ben Lodan Guess they built my one wrong then. Strange....
DvDw (2 years ago)
+VaultGames Yes, it does. Only for charging.
VaultGames (2 years ago)
+Sameer Khatri Cable doesnt just charge.
Sameer Khatri (2 years ago)
it still operates wirelessly. Cable only charges. He wants the data to be transmitted through the cable to eliminate lag
Sittin'Sidewayz (2 years ago)
i bought this mouse yesterday and when im playing csgo, its like the mouse is lagging. this doesnt happen with any other mouse i have. anyone have a fix for that? kinda sucks spending 100 dollars on a mouse just to find out it basically sucks
AlanWMBT (2 years ago)
I have it as well. Use the dongle
Sittin'Sidewayz (2 years ago)
+Reckless Yuki alright thank you :) i have been watching some reviews a while back and i guess i must have remembered wrong when i went to buy this mouse. i thought it was a gaming mouse :P i guess ill just have to sell it cause i have no other use for it
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
This is not a gaming mouse. It's polling rate is 125hz. If you want a good mouse for CS:GO, check out my video where I go over several mice to find the best one thus far in 2016.
Ádám Csicsely (2 years ago)
I have been using an MX Revolution for over six years now, and the MX Master looks like a good successor for MX R. My question is, can you remap all the buttons on the mouse (except for left and right click)? Because that's important to me. For some guidelines i use mine mostly for CAD drawing, and have set the button under the scroll to [ENTER] the Forward to [DELETE] and the Back to[ESC] and also have set the thumb scroll to [F3] [F8] and [Ctrl+TAB] but only in AutoCAD, i have different button mappings for gaming and other programs as well, like thumb scroll is volume in general and the main scroll wheel is in free spin but in games or excel it is click to click. So my question is once again, can you remap all the buttons and wheels on the mouse program specificly (if this is a word)?
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+Ádám Csicsely You can remap everything except for the left and right click. There is an option call "keystroke assignment" where you can set whatever you want as that button. There are even a lot of options like setting a button to open things like search, cortana, email, next desktop, previous desktop, devices, launch an application. Hope this answers your question.
Michael Horstmann (2 years ago)
Your video title is misleading. I came to have the inadequacies in gaming explained. Twelve minutes later you really didn't say anything but 1 or 2 comments about it related to gaming. Take your focus factor, I don't care about "google maps" or your "editing application" when your title is "not great for gaming."
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+Michael Horstmann Sorry you feel that way. If you would like, I used the same mouse in this video, where I talk about peripherals for the best gaming performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBuxJp108aw
PeaceSells (2 years ago)
You can swap between 2 DPI settings with the button behind the mouse wheel if you set it up.
Billy Scranner (2 years ago)
Dude are you ok your fingers look a little... odd (I'm not trying to offend you).
Miguel Duarte (2 years ago)
so, can we setup key commands in the mx master? I have an mx performance and have a macro to go forward and backwards on OSX finder. Does it worth the upgrade?

+rubikfan1 I crushed my left hand between a 100lbs cement block and a back of a trailer when I was working construction back when I was 17. And I also developed some hyper extension in my tendons over the years. Thanks for noticing and commenting on my disfigurement... ha.
Figgy Newton (2 years ago)
I wasn't sure what to expect having never seen one of you videos, but this was a very hones and informative review. Now that I've had a chance to use it myself, i completely agree and feel like you covered everything accurately and thoroughly. Very good review!
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+Figgy Newton Thanks for watching the video! I appreciate it.
burns0100 (2 years ago)
I picked one of these up today to pair with my 13" MacBook Pro Retina, Great Mouse. Does what i need, fits in work, casual gaming and web browsing and doesn't have any of that fancy colour crap. Fits my hand well, i have a loose grip with a more finger grasp hold on the mouse so the thumb area is a god sent for me as its a great grip point and function zone. Now i just need to find that perfect keyboard to match as my desk doesn't offer the best hand position for typing on my MacBook, cuts my arms at the wrist and forearm.
Charles J Gordon (2 years ago)
+burns0100 I'm very late to reply, but you could get the Das Keyboard. It goes very well with the mouse!
Salmon (2 years ago)
Sidescroll has been my secound god while using CAD, really comfy mouse and really usefull functions for AutoCAD users :p the two bottons behind that scrollweel aren't placed there cause you should go back with the tip of your finger, they are designed so you can just lift your thumb and use the "neck" of your thumb to press them. Go back and press them with my fingertip would make me go mental!
Vick Lagina (2 years ago)
how do you use this mouse for CAD? I'm thinking of getting it for that purpose. What do you use the side scroll for? How about gesture controls? I think the side scrolling would be helpful for scrolling through large drawing PDFs or excel sheets but wouldn't know what to do in CAD. Thanks
Adrian Stroila (2 years ago)
thank you very much for this proffesional review. i enjoyed the fact you included your hands dimension. excelent!!!!!
Adrian Stroila (2 years ago)
it really was a great review considering i am a small hand guy and i was considering buying this mouse, i will not! and i will be a constant viewer from now on! excelent!

Peter Gray (2 years ago)
Dude use the thumb scroll for volume control!
Retnuh (1 year ago)
yeah I use it for that, I changed the gesture button to the task view and set the top button to media gesture

+Sam Preiss download the software for the mouse and set it through there
Sam Preiss (2 years ago)
+sith peg how do you set the thumb wheel for volume?
Apollo Haywood (2 years ago)
you don't have any windows to try the mouse on?
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+Bryan Haywood Didn't think of it when I filmed this. Just did for you and it works. But I was at a weird angle trying to see the screen. But it seems fine.
King Headhunter (2 years ago)
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mfCwxr is this a good starter build?
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+King Headhunter Good for what? If you are tying to play the latest games then I would advise against this build. Check out my $500 build guide, that would be the cheapest I would go for gaming.
Sparky (2 years ago)
I hate using a logitech because they are really small. I LOVE the Razer Death Adder because it is a big mouse and it is shaped in a way for people that play fps games. That mouse looks good for stuff that is not gaming.
michael douglas (2 years ago)
Honestly I do not see a need in side button, wat's all the hype? And from someone who do video and sound editing a lot. Scrubbing video and sound is not that hard even with no scroll wheel
Konstantin Naumov (2 years ago)
Thanks for an awesome review! Is it me or your ring finger was broken?
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+Konstantin Naumov My breaks happened between my knuckles and the first joint. Luckily I didn't hit the joints. I couldn't move my fingers for months due to the scar tissue.
Konstantin Naumov (2 years ago)
Sorry to hear that. I have my ring finger broken too. I had an incident 3 month ago, after this i cant move distal(last) joint :(
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+Konstantin Naumov My pinky, ring, and middle finger were broken. Caught between a back of a truck and a 100lbs cement block when I was 17. I was working as a concrete cutter one late night.
TheDriXx (2 years ago)
Nice review!! I'm looking for a wireless mouse for editing, modeling, and gaming aswell(shooters and some sims aswell), for wich one should I go ¿Mx master or rather the g602?
TheDriXx (2 years ago)
Thanks for answering!! Then I think I'll go for the MX master as I usually edit videos and photos aswell
Reckless Yūki (2 years ago)
+TheDriXx | Sims 4 House Designer | Well depends on what type of gaming you are interested in. If you are into FPS or MOBA style games, then I would recommend the G602. But if you are into more casual games like Sims (assuming from your username) then the MX Master will be fine.
MrMalicious5 (2 years ago)
Only 1600dpi? I can't see this being a good productivity mouse either. Using a 4k or even a 1440p monitor with only 1600dpi must suck. 1440p with my mouse set to 2500 is barely acceptable.
JayJapanB (2 years ago)
Not necessarily true. If you use your arm you won't get RSI. Short sharp movements with the wrist is something which can... Aside from that I only use one monitor when modelling and anything with two I use a stylus. I suppose everyone has a different form of productivity.
MrMalicious5 (2 years ago)
6/11. I mean, it's fine to go lower DPI but just not what I want for productivity. For that purpose, I want to be able to move my mouse across 2 or 3 monitors while barely moving my hand. The less you move, the lower chances of getting RSI too.
JayJapanB (2 years ago)
What's your windows setting at? I find 1600 fine at 1440p for work in Maya.

i'l use it for trello. lol

Nice review, man. I was considering getting Apple's new Magic Trackpad 2 but I do a lot of work between Logic Pro, iMovie and Blender so, cool at it is, I don't think it'd be practical for workflow. I'm pretty excited to scoop one of these up. On a side note, your camera's quality here is crazy. What cam did you use to shoot this tutorial?
Reckless Yūki (3 years ago)
+Rob “Beatdown” Brown Thank you. I use a Panasonic GH3.

sorry to say but dont waste your money on this mouse , everybody was RIGHT the bluetooth socks on this mouse. everytime the mouse goes in to sleep mode and you wake up the mouse it does not work / you have to reconnect again and again. its a waste of time and money. logitech mx masters is NG. you are better off with the logitech mx performance mouse at half the price and better performance!!!!!

Reckless Yūki (3 years ago)
+ValigmaHD That looks like an interesting mouse for the money, but not if it has lag or stutter... Ha. If you are looking for a new gaming mouse that is wireless, I would recommend the Logitech G602, I have this and really like it. Also if you don't care about wires I would recommend the G502, I really love that mouse. One other mouse that is generating a bit of buzz is the FinalMouse, supposed to be the best mouse with the best possible tracking ever, worth a look, not sure about the price though... ha.

I use finger grip ! And I was pretty disappointed by logitech daedalus prime with that big A$$ Sad face for all gaming mice that pretend to be finger grip  The only mice for finger grip are notebook mice wich have short cables or wireless :( And I am talking from a Hardcore gamer and pro finger { gripper xD } perspective
Charvos (3 years ago)
