Masternodes Explained For Dummies! "Passive Income" or Waste of Time?

227 ratings | 4994 views
Masternodes are a unique way to earn passive income in the cryptocurrency world. At its core, masternodes are servers that add special features/functions to blockchain networks, like privacy, instant transactions, voting, governance, etc. To get a masternode, you need to stake or lock up a certain amount of coins and also set up a Linux server. You would receive a percentage of block rewards at your wallet address tied to your node. Some well known masternode coins include Dash, PIVX, Vechain Thor, and more! #Cryptocurrency #Masternode #Blockchain

so once the max coins has been produced and no more can be created, will the masternode then receive compensation for transactions on the blockchain?
Bitcoin for Beginners (1 month ago)
They will likely still receive transaction fees perhaps :)

It's probably more important to consider the math behind these nodes. For instance, if you buy a node and the cost is say $3000 keep in mind that the vast majority of these coins devalue significantly, some down to zero in a short space of time. Secondly, as the number of masternodes increases the income decreases, so when you see these massive returns like 300% you can be pretty sure that will reduce rapidly as more masternodes come on line. Finally the block reward decreases as time goes by so you might start with say 20 coin payments but after reaching a predetermined block height that will drop to 10 coins. I have done the math on many masternode coins and in the most part investors lose money, there may be the odd one out there that bucks the trend but you need to be very careful before investing in these things.

Interested to hear your thoughts on Gincoin (GIN). It's a coin and platform that hosts not only the Gincoin masternode but many other masternodes. It seems to be a user-friendly platform that makes it easy for a lay person to create a masternode. They charge $0.50 per day to host your masternode and this fee is paid in GIN, thereby creating demand for the coin to fund these daily fees. GIN seems like a legit platform with a working revenue model and a current annual ROI over 100%! Oh, and your coins (masternode collateral) stay in your wallet at all times. Curious what your thoughts are on GIN.

you can eaily do a direct deposit to KB3 coins FN node pool! Via the b3 coin lottery too with ROI of 40% and lost 'tickets' go towards paying for a % of an FN node!! So regular payouts :)
Josiah Hogan (5 months ago)
even if b3 ever went to a dollar, which it never will. you still would not make enough to ROI any amount invested. the time to make money with b3 was during the high staking periods... its a nothing coin now
Steve Sole (5 months ago)
The whitepaper etc is not all out quite yet! So set up for regular larger payments by investingh into the FN then sit back whilst the money comes in in 2 or 3 years time T
Josiah Hogan (5 months ago)
problem is kb3 payouts are worth only $ .0000002
Bitcoin for Beginners (6 months ago)
Which coin is this for?
Craig Mullins (6 months ago)
Where are these shared masternode pools? Do we have a list somewhere?
Kevins New Income (3 months ago)
Bitcoin for Beginners (6 months ago)
I think they are more on a coin to coin basis. And some are set up within their community. So it's hard to generate an official list for that.
